Singer and rapper Nicki Minajwas born on December 8, 1982, which officially makes today her 39th birthday!

Minaj was born Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty in Saint James, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, although she was raised in Queens in New York City.

After releasing mixtapes “Playtime Is Over” in 2007, “Sucka Free” in 2008, and “Beam Me Up Scotty” in 2009, she started gaining public recognition. In 2010, she released her first debut studio album, “Pink Friday” which peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

‘Super Bass’

It’s been over a decade since the music video for “Super Bass” dropped on May 5, 2011, but fans still can’t stop listening to the upbeat track.

“I hope Nicki will make songs like this again,” wrote one fan. “No dissing, no dipping just good vibes.”

“Super Bass is now CERTIFIED diamond,” another commented. “Nicki Minaj is the first black female artist with a solo diamond song.”

“So proud of the queen for hitting 10M copies the song that reintroduced female rap to pop culture, iconic,” said another.

Other fans are trying to get the video to one billion views for the rapper’s birthday. As of the time of this writing, it sits at 915,414,988 views.

‘Starships’

The music video for “Starships” dropped on April 27, 2012, and it’s giving some fans a serious dose of nostalgia.

“It's crazy how many people come back to this every day,” one fan wrote. “This song is legendary.”

“It’s crazy how we used to listen to these songs as kids and never realized they’ll be our childhood,” another commented. Another user added, “I was an elementary student when this masterpiece was released, and now I'm a college student.”

The music video for “Anaconda” dropped on August 19, 2014, although some fans swear that it was just released yesterday.

“7 years later and this song still hits different,” one fan wrote. “Truly a masterpiece.”

“I love that apart from great music, she actually has the balls to stand up for her views and opinions, despite such a toxic environment full of celebrities, media personalities, etc,” wrote another. “She is my new (and only) queen.”
