It's been about a month and a half now since the tragic death of Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie Rust in New Mexico. At this point police investigations around the incident are ongoing, and we don't have a ton of answers on what exactly happened. Alec Baldwin cried heavily in his recent interview while denying that it was his intention to fire upon the cinematographer. Armorer Hannah Reed may end up being the one who takes the fall in court. After all as the armorer it was literally her job to check all of the weapons on set. She's pleading her case hard trying to make sure that she doesn't get blamed for what happened. Now her father has joined in the conversation to try and defend her. His theory is that the whole thing was an inside job.

One of the claims that Hannah Reed's defense team is making is that the gun was essentially used on set without her direct supervision. Thell Reed claims that had Hannah been on set at the time she would've been able to stop the situation. Thell Reed mentioned,

"'That one time, they should have had her on set...she would have found it. She knows what to do. She does the job as good as I do now,'

In his recent interview with Good Morning America Thell Reed claimed that he thought the whole issue was perpetrated by a "disgruntled crew member". He told Good Morning America,

'Sabotage is the most likely possibility, probability. A lot of motive there. Somebody wanted to cause a safety incident on set" Then he kind of stopped and back tracked saying, "Nobody wanted anybody to be killed."

According to Hannah Reed's defense team she checked the gun and then handed it to Assistant Director Dave Halls. We're not necessarily in a position to play detectives here. Hannah Reed's best defense though, may be to claim that she handed a "clean" gun to Halls. She was called into the other set. Baldwin according to the script supervisor wasn't supposed to fire the gun for the scene they were shooting. Therefore, it can be argued Hannah Reed's presence wasn't mandatory. Assistant Director Dave Halls may find the ball in his court soon or himself in court for that matter. Being asked to explain what happened to the gun after he got it from Reed! This story is far from over.
