The now 62-year-old singer is quite a contemporary sensation and looks upon his early career with fondness. That didn’t stop the “Masked Singer” runner up from poking fun at the over-the-top fashion style that he and his “The Osmonds’ bandmates wore in the 70’s however!
Osmond shared a hilarious caption along with the now headlining photo.
The picture that Osmond shared shows the 5 members of “The Osmonds” (himself included) singing a song dressed in iconic 70’s fashion. The outfits, featuring bright colors and a whole lot of belts, are only topped by the matching hairstyles they wore.
“If anyone forgot a belt, we have approximately 6 extras sewn to our jackets. The ’70s… what a time to be alive!”
Although Donny would eventually branch out to have his own solo career, he thoroughly loved his time in the band.
When asked in an interview conducted by ClassicBands, Donny shared how he views a band reunion as something he’d do for fun, but not as a “career move”.
“Oh, I don’t know. I’ve been asked about it many, many times. We’re all so busy in our own careers. I’m working my own album. They’ve got their own careers. I think it’d be fun, but, not a career move.”
Donny had the opportunity to discuss how music has changed significantly since the 70’s and how there’s more “trash” out now.
After so many people have branched into making music today it isn’t hard to understand where Donny’s coming from when he said the following:
“Yeah, there’s some great artists out there today. You can’t say that the music industry today is worse than it used to be in the ’70s ’cause there’s some really talented people, but we’ve got more garbage out there. If you analyze the songs of the 70s, at least the good ones, it’s all about the music and the melody and the lyric, whereas now you take trash and produce it. Well, it’s OK. It’ll hit.”
Osmond is also a big family man, and frequently praises his wife Debbie (who he’s been married to for around 42 years?!) as the primary reason their family has stayed so strong in spite of his frequent touring:
“She’s not only the love of my life, but she’s also my best friend and greatest confidant. Between raising our five sons, running the show at home, enjoying time with our grandchildren and running a business as well, I really don’t know how she manages to do it all.”
