55-year-old Halle Berry is much wiser these days than she was back in 2004. If she’d been a little wiser back then she may not have accepted the leading role in Catwoman.

The role has garnered a bit of a cult following in the years after being one of the biggest box office bombs of the 2000s, with Halle ultimately getting asked about her role rather constantly. To be honest, most of the questions that she gets asked these days about the role revolve around her appearance at the Razzies.

The anti-Oscar awards celebrate the worst in film for that year. Halle took home the award for worst actress for her role in Catwoman and showed up to accept the award. Looking back she recalls the experience fondly.

The list of actors who have shown up at the Razzies in person to accept their awards includes the likes of Tom Green, former MTV stuntman who probably would’ve never gotten any of his shows and films made if he tried to produce them today. Halle is also on that short list of actors, but why did she show up in the first place? She tells Variety,

"I went to the Razzie [Awards] because I feel like we all take ourselves so seriously,"

It should be noted that when Halle won the Razzie she was just a couple of years removed from winning an Oscar for her role in Monster’s Ball. The Catwoman flop was one that Berry was seemingly able to take in stride. However, she hasn’t exactly been in amazing movies since. In the interview Halle elaborated on her decision to go to the Razzies and accept the award in person saying,

"If we get an award, if we get the Oscar, we somehow are made to feel like we're somehow better than everybody else, but we're really not,” she would then go on to add, “"If you find yourself face to face with a Razzie, does that mean you're the worst actor there ever was? Probably not ... you just got the piss taken out on you that year by a group of people that can."

What Halle Berry Actually Did With The Award

Halle would go on to say that she recalls actually having a great time at the Razzie ceremony. Although these days she wants to speak wisely about the award the reality is that around 2005, and even though she did the brave thing of showing up to the ceremony she was still bitter about winning the Razzie. So she decided to literally burn down the award! Which, in many ways, is a massive shame. Halle Berry would have potentially been the only person on the planet to hold an Oscar and a Razzie in the same cabinet. When you’re good you’re great, and when you’re bad you’re also the worst. There’s a ton of wisdom right there!
