While Drake is literally telling the Grammys thanks, but no thanks with his most recent nominations to the awards Selena Gomez is crying her eyes out over getting nominated. The singer had already hinted that she’d gotten quite emotional when it was announced that she would be nominated for Best Latin Pop Album category for her Spanish album Revelación. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight the Hotel Transylvania star got emotional again even talking about the moment. While detailing that she had been thinking about working on a Spanish language project for the better part of 10 years to be able to honor her heritage.

Selena Was Surprised That She Got Nominated

When you’re named after Selena Quintanilla you’re bound to have some Latin tunes in you. That being said, Selena Gomez wasn’t exactly certain that she’d even get the nomination. She mentioned that the news came as a great surprise to her. Perhaps that’s one of the main reasons why she got so emotional over it. Gomez told ET, 

“I cried like a little baby. I was very excited, I worked really hard on that project, so it was a lovely surprise. I’m very excited!"

Why The Project Was So Important To Her

As we mentioned Selena Gomez said that she had been thinking about getting something done in Spanish for the better part of ten years. For her, it was like a way to be able to connect with her roots. Essentially the nomination was something that she kind of thinks she wished into existence. Saying that she had worked so hard on the project that she really hoped that it would get recognition from fans and maybe even an award or two. Selena says,

"This has been something I've wanted to do for 10 years, working on a Spanish project, because I'm so, so proud of my heritage, and just genuinely felt like I wanted this to happen," Gomez went on to say "And it happened, and I feel like it's the perfect timing. Just with all the division in the world, there's something about Latin music that globally just makes people feel things, you know?"

What Is Selena Gomez Going To Be Doing For The Holidays?

Selena Gomez was asked what she was going to be doing for the holidays. Just to be clear the answer was not Chris Evans. Although she didn’t shoot down the rumors, at least in this particular interview. The whole situation still seems shrouded in mystery. Seriously though, she did talk about some of the family traditions that she had. Since she was talking about her heritage and things of that nature it was potentially a good moment to ask what Christmas dinner looked like for her family. Selena detailed, 

"It just consists of adults playing with dumb toys and bunch of kids being happy," she would go on to add,  "And a lot of good food. I'm really looking forward to being with my family. It's been a busy year for me, so I'm excited."
