Orlando Bloom's search for his beloved toy poodle, Mighty, has come to a tragic end. The Lord of the Rings star revealed on Instagram early Wednesday morning that after a week of looking for him, they found his collar. He said searched "sunrise to sunset" and into the "wee hours" of the morning over the past seven days. Bloom added that he has "wept more this week than I thought possible," and shared a video of his emotions on the sad day.

"I left no stone unturned, crawled thru all the man holes, under the roads, searched every back yard and creek bed. Had two separate sniffer dogs do their best as well," Bloom said about the extensive search for Mighty.

He went on to say he is "grateful" for all year learned from his dog over their years together, including "that love is eternal and the true meaning of devotion."

Bloom said Mighty was "more than a companion" and that they had a "soul connection."

When he first revealed Mighty was missing, Bloom said he had never been more broken in his life.

"I don’t recall a time in my life where I’ve been so broken wide open. The rawness I have felt over these past few days and sleepless nights at the idea of my little man being lost and scared, with me unable to do anything to protect him, is a waking nightmare.

I feel powerless... maybe like so many others who are losing loved ones or unable to see our loved ones because of the times.⁣"

Bloom adopted Mighty in 2017 after he and fiance Katy Perry had temporarily split. Now the couple is happily together, and despite the heartbreaking loss of his dog, Bloom can look forward to his first child with Perry. She is expecting a baby girl sometime next month.

He was a guest on "Good Morning America" a couple months ago and talked about how excited he is to be a "girl dad."

"I'm excited," Bloom said. "It's a magical time when an angel pops into the planet, which is what it feels like. For me, you know, those quiet times at home just you and the family and the little one, and nursing and just sort of being present and seeing where you can help and what you can do to nurture the life into the world."

He went on to say that he is "looking forward" to the "quiet times when the world feels like it's asleep and you've got a sleeping baby [in your arms]."
