Nick Cannon shared a troubling revelation in an Instagram post early on Sunday morning. The 39-year-old shared a photo of himself with rapper Ryan Bowers, who died by suicide on Saturday night. The two were extremely close, and Bowers had recently released a new album on Cannon’s record label. In his tribute to his friend, Cannon said that he had “barely [rose] from my own dark contemplation of continuing my physical existence on this planet.”
Those words come after a difficult week for Cannon, who was fired from his job as “Wild N’ Out” host by ViacomCBS after making anti-Semitic comments on his YouTube show, “Cannon’s Class.” Fox, however, made the decision to retain Cannon as host of “The Masked Singer.”
Cannon and his guest Professor Griff discussed several anti-semitic conspiracies during the show, including “the Rothschilds, centralized banking, the 13 families, the bloodlines that control everything even outside of America.”
He also said that people with “lack of pigment” and “lack of melanin” are “savages.”
“So, therefore, the only way that they can act is evil. They have to rob, steal, rape, kill in order to survive. So then, these people that didn’t have what we have – and when I say we, I speak of the melanated people – they had to be savages,” Cannon also said.
Cannon issued an extensive apology earlier this week. He said his comments “reinforced the worst stereotypes of a proud and magnificent people and I feel ashamed of the uninformed and naïve place that these words came from.”
Elsewhere in Cannon’s Instagram post about Bowers, he wrote, “Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse… 2020 is definitely the most fucked up year I’ve ever witnessed!” He added, “Once again my brother you have put this world in perspective for me. You would do that quite often because I never understood how someone who was experiencing sooo much pain could still laugh and smile through it all.”
He also revealed he feels guilty for not being more present for Bowers. “I can’t help but think if I wasnt so engulfed in my own bullshit I could’ve been there for you when you finally took your life after several attempts… Fuck this place!!” he concluded.
Bowers had recently recovered from a coma after being shot in the chest by police last year. He reportedly slit his own throat when police arrived at his apartment, and then waved the knife in the direction of the officers, who shot him.
