Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter, Riley Keough, is speaking out after the devastating loss of her younger brother, Benjamin Keough, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound last weekend. The 31-year-old “Mad Max: Fury Road” star took to Instagram on Saturday morning with a touching eulogy accompanied by photos of the two from over the years. Riley, who is the granddaughter of Elvis Presley, is the first family member to speak out since Benjamin’s death, other than the statement the family gave after the tragic incident first occurred.
“Mornings are the hardest. I forget you’re gone. I can’t cry because of the fear that I will never stop. A pain that’s new to me.
You. There are no words for you. Angel is the closest I could think of. Pure light,” Riley began her long tribute to her brother.
“Baby brother. Best friend. Wild man. Intellectual. Witness to my life. Twin soul. Protector. Too sensitive for this harsh world. I hope you give me strength to endure the giant hole you’ve left in my heart.”
Riley’s emotional message to her late brother makes it clear how devastated she is as she tries to come up with the words to deal with the loss.
“I hope you give me the strength to eat. I hope you’re cradled in love. I hope you feel my love. I hope you feel god. You are god. I can’t believe you’ve left me. Not you sweet Ben Ben. Anyone but you. I guess this is true heartbreak. I hope we meet again.”
Benjamin Keough took his life last Sunday at the Presley family’s $1.8 million mansion in Calabasas. He had reportedly been up all night partying with his girlfriend, until neighbors reportedly heard shouting before police were called. The daughter of Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie, was extremely close with her 27-year-old son, whom she shared with musician Danny Keough.“
A rep for Lisa Marie released a statement shortly after her son’s death, stating “Lisa is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated. Benjamin was the love of her life.”
The coroner officially ruled Benjamin’s death a suicide.
