Britney Spears continues to appear unaffected by the now-global level of concern sparking a massive #FreeBritney resurgence. The 38-year-old pop princess whose 2008-commenced conservatorship has become a trending topic this month has had fans fearing both for her safety and, as The Blast reported, that she doesn’t even have the power to control her own Instagram.
Friday brought a fresh update from the “Toxic” singer. Britney, who appeared in slinky Alexander McQueen just yesterday – with fans interpreting the black color as a “danger” sign – was back to her trademark floral crop top today.
Scroll for Britney’s latest photo. It comes less than 24 hours after the movement aiming to free the singer from having her finances and other aspects of her life controlled by her father and his lawyer gained momentum – the July 9-commenced petition aiming to garner 100,000 signatures in 30 days reached the milestone in just one week.
Britney’s photo did not deliver a smile, but it did come with roses for a caption. Unfortunately, for the 25.4 million Instagram followers querying the repetitive nature of the star’s posts, this one definitely wasn’t a fresh look.
Britney, who came with a red backdrop in 12+ posts earlier this year, has now shifted to appearing shot in front of a white backdrop. The mom of two looked deep into the camera while wearing a vintage-style and floral-print crop top with bow bust detailing, plus a white necklace and bangs.
Three red roses were the accompanying caption from the blonde who – despite an uproar over her controlled status – has herself maintained: “This is me being authentic and as real as it gets.” More below.
Britney is now regularly receiving instructions to send coded messages on her Instagram. Fans have instructed the star to wear black to indicate danger and pink to indicate safety. Interestingly, both have manifested this week via the black Alexander McQueen outfit, plus tiny pink shots as Britney danced to 32-year-old singer Rihanna.
Fans were pretty much waiting for the next post. “If you’re in danger put an EMOJI in the next post! PUT AN EMOJI!” one user wrote. Another, meanwhile, reached out telling Spears to “take a picture with a yellow shirt hugging a tree” and they would “have SWAT in under a minute.”
Britney now has a rally planned for her upcoming July 22 court appearance. She’s also seen mom Lynne step in, legally filing to be involved in her daughter’s financial decisions. The singer has further been backed by celebrities including “Modern Family” star Ariel Winter and “Jersey Shore” face Nicole Snooki Polizzi.
Britney, who earlier this year addressed “mean comments” on her Instagram as “bullying,” has clapped back to the immense waves of comments. Last Friday, she wrote:
“I get how some people might not like my posts or even understand them, but this is me being happy.” The star then confirmed being herself. A July 9 video of Britney answering fan queries – and revealing chili hot dogs are her favorite food – again failed to convince fans the star is safe, though.
