Kandi Burruss appeared on a recent episode of “Extra TV” and during her chat with host Jenn Lahmers, she opened up about production on the upcoming 13th season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” before applauding her longtime co-star and friend, Porsha Williams, for her efforts to get justice for Breonna Taylor, who was shot to death by police earlier this year.
According to Kandi, production on the new episodes of season 13 of her Bravo reality series has been much different than past seasons.
“It’s a lot of rules because more than anything they care about our safety,” Kandi said of the production team behind “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
“We’re getting tested all the time,” she continued. “That’s what we have to do to be to continue to tape together, we have to make sure everyone’s status is negative.”
Speaking of Porsha, Kandi said that she is really proud of the way in which she’s brought attention to the tragic death of Breonna.
“I’m really proud of Porsha… Because she’s keeping Breonna Taylor’s name out there. She’s on the front lines. She’s risking herself with her own freedom to be out there… talking about what needs to be talked about,” Kandi explained.
Porsha was arrested, along with several other men and women, while attending a protest in Kentucky earlier this week.
In addition to her role on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Kandi can also be seen on “The Chi.”
“I was a fan of the show for a long time. I watched Season 1 and 2 with my husband all the time. I was so excited when the opportunity came up… At first, I thought it wasn’t going to work out because of scheduling conflicts with ‘Housewives.’ I had auditioned for a different part initially, but then when this role came up, scheduling-wise it all worked out and so I was so happy,” she shared.
When Kandi was then asked by “Extra TV” about her husband Todd Tucker‘s thoughts about her sex scenes on “The Chi,” Kandi admitted to asking him if he was going to be okay with her being seen with other men on the show.
“I had to ask my husband, ‘Are you okay with this?’ and at first he was, like, iffy. But then he thought about it and was like… ‘Okay. Go ahead. I know this is your dream. Go ahead and make it happen,'” she revealed.
No word yet on when Kandi and her co-stars will return to Bravo for “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” season 13.
