Former Disney darling Demi Lovato is distraught after the death of (another) loved one.
27-year-old Demi shared the sad news on Thursday – that her aunt had died. She lost her great grandfather on July 1st…just over two weeks ago.
On Instagram, Lovato wrote, “My sweet sweet Aunt Virginia… They They told us we had more time with you.. I’m devastated to say goodbye to you and that angelic heart of yours.”
“You took care of Mimaw and Papa like no one else and I can never thank you enough. I’m just so grateful we became close in their final years.”
The singer concluded: “Rest easy with all our loved ones up there.. especially Uncle Billy. I love you so much… ??”
Lovato’s Instagram update had two photos of her “sweet sweet Aunt Virginia”, one of which was taken at church.
And her heartfelt post was met with much love. Taking the top comment was her boyfriend of four months, actor Max Ehrich, who wrote, “so sorry baby ? love u so much.”
Demi’s friend, author Alok Vaid-Menon (whom she live streamed with earlier this summer) wrote, “I’m so so sorry. Thinking of you and yours x.”
Another close friend, her “Sonny With A Chance” co-star Matthew Scott Montgomery, left a simple “?”…and her mom commented too:
“She was the sweetest kindest soul with a heart of gold. Always giving to others. My heart is broken ?RIPAuntGinny… soar with the angels and Uncle Billy now…”
Lovato’s mom is former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Dianna De La Garza, who published her family-centered memoir “Falling With Wings” in 2018.
Late last night, the “Nightingale” songstress updated her Instagram Story with a bittersweet photo, one showing an all-smiles/slightly younger Lovato sitting amongst her late family members at a Texas restaurant.
From Dallas native Demi: “RIP to some of my favorite angels in heaven.. Papa, Mimaw, and my sweet Aunt Virginia ??️”
“I miss going to the Mabank Cafe with y’all.. I love you.”
Lovato’s fans (aka “Lovatics”) poured out condolences on Twitter as well.
“I’m sorry for your loss and that of your family,” one wrote. “Feel embraced by all the Lovatics and their admirers. We love you!
RIP Virginia, she is now at peace and in a wonderful place.”
Despite Thursday’s tragedy, Demi did have a glimmer of fun on Wednesday when she discovered her likeness being used in a pop art poster being sold on Amazon….but had to Google herself first (to make sure it was actually her being depicted).
That was likely the extent of her fun thsi week. Like many others, Lovato’s been grieved over the death of Naya Rivera. What’s different about Demi’s situation is that she played Naya’s love interest during her 4-episode stint on “Glee.”
The “Cool For The Summer” stars said she’ll “forever cherish the opportunity” she had to play “[Rivera’s] girlfriend” on the show.
