Megan Thee Stallion has said she’s “grateful to be alive” after claiming to have fallen victim to gunshot wounds over the weekend. The “Hot Girl Summer” rapper, 25, updated her Instagram on Wednesday with a lengthy message. Megan claims that she was injured during the course of a violent crime committed against her this past weekend, also writing that she’s undergone surgery as a result of having been shot.
Megan was, per TMZ, reportedly at a party with Canadian rapper Tory Lanez at a Hollywood Hills property over the weekend. Scroll for more.
Megan opened: “The narrative that is being reported about Sunday’s morning events are inaccurate and I’d like to set the record straight. On Sunday morning, I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.”
“I was never arrested, the police officers drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets,” she continued.
Local law enforcement was called, with Lanez arrested in connection with the incident, also charged with possession of a concealed weapon.
Footage posted by TMZ appeared to show the SavagexFenty ambassador in cuffs as police dealt with the situation – they arrived on the scene at approximately 4.30 a.m. on Sunday morning, with witnesses describing “people arguing in an SUV before someone fired shots in the air….and the vehicle took off.”
Megan continued: “I am incredibly grateful to be alive and that I am expected to make a full recovery, but it was important for me to clarify the details about this traumatic night.” More below.
A caption from Stallion read: “I was never arrested. This whole experience was an eye opener and a blessing in disguise. I hate that it took this experience for me to learn how to protect my energy.”
July 14 saw reports of Tory being in a car with “another woman,” believed to be Stallion. Sources stated the rapper to have had cuts on her foot, believed to be broken glass from inside the car. Megan’s message today added her to be “focusing” on her recovery.
Megan’s update has been steadily bringing in responses since going live.
“Hella glad you’re ok” came from artist Kehlani, with 25-year-old singer Halsey also replying: “Sending love. hope you get well fast, beauty. mind AND body ??.”
Megan, who was listed as a victim by police in the incident, had been spotted with Tory earlier in the evening partying at 22-year-old makeup mogul Kylie Jenner’s residence. Reports suggest the incident to have taken place just blocks from the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star’s home.
