Is singer Jewel about to make a comeback?
Her fans are definitely hoping that she will be! Many fans think that Jewel has actually been covering several different songs in disguise on the Fox reality musical guessing game show, "The Masked Singer."
The show, now in its sixth season, features celebrities singing their hearts out in elaborate costumes while a panel of judges consisting of Robin Thicke, JennyMcCarthyWahlberg, KenJeong, and NicoleScherzinger tries to figure out their identity.
The show has switched up its format this season. Contestants were separated into two groups: A and B. Last week, the two remaining contestants in Group A, Bull and Skunk, battled it out for a spot in the finale.
The audience voted and the Skunk was unmasked to reveal R&B singer FaithEvans.
This week, the final two contestants of Group B, Queen of Hearts and the Banana Split duo, will be competing for a chance to compete with Bull in the finale on Wednesday, December 15.
Fans already think they have cracked the clues behind the Banana Split duo, but could the Queen of Hearts really be Jewel?
Let's find out!
So… Who Is Jewel?
The show's video clue package featured before each performance provides audiences with clues to uncovering each performer's identity.
This makes the game much more complicated, as fans must also know a little bit about their favorite artists beyond just their singing voice.
According to her biography, Jewel was born Jewel Kilcher on May 23, 1974. Although she was born in Utah, she was raised just outside of Homer, Alaska.
Her father, also a musician, taught her to sing and yodel and she studied operatic singing at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan when she was only 15 years old!
After performing in clubs around California, Jewel signed on with Atlantic Records to release her debut album "Pieces of You" in 1995. The album became one of the best-selling albums of all time and went platinum a staggering twelve times!
In the following years, Jewel put out a string of hit singles, including "Who Will Save Your Soul," "Foolish Games," and "You Were Meant For Me." She has sold over 30 million albums as of 2021 but has yet to score a Grammy despite receiving four nominations.
So Do The Clues Match Up?
Many of the clues point to the Queen of Hearts and Jewel being one and the same.
In one of the clue packages, the Queen of Hearts says she grew up in a house that lacked warmth. This could be a nod to her upbringing in Alaska.
Another clue package was set to an "Alice in Wonderland" theme. Jewel’s sixth album was titled “Goodbye Alice in Wonderland.”
Another clue featured a tin man, which the judges concluded to be a reference to "The Wizard of Oz." Jewel was cast in the role of Dorothy in the 1995 special “The Wizard of Oz in Concert: Dreams Come True."
One of the most striking clues might be her outfit! Just as Willie Robertson from "Duck Dynasty" performed as a wood duck, the body of the Queen of Hearts costume is shaped like a giant jewel.
So could the Queen of Hearts really be Jewel? Fans will just have to tune in to find out!
"The Masked Singer" airs on Wednesday nights at 8 PM EST on Fox.
