Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar are power couple goals!

After meeting on the set of the 1997 horror movie “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” the two became friends. However, they didn’t start dating until several years later.

“We were supposed to have dinner with a friend of ours, and she didn’t make her plane, so we went anyway,” Prinze explained. “We’d had tons of dinners before and for some reason, it felt different that night. Organically, it just transitioned into something else.”

The two became engaged in 2001 and got married in 2002, the same year they shared the screen as Fred and Daphne in the live-action “Scooby-Doo” movie. They reprised their roles again for the sequel, “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed” in 2004.

Prinze and Gellar have changed over the years, but he recently sat down with US Magazine to share the secret to a long and happy marriage.

“If you love and respect someone, what brings them joy should make you happy, whether you’re involved with it or not,” he said.

He added that, in his own household, “I played video games since I was a little boy. Sarah knew I played video games. If she ever gave me a hard time about playing video games, Sarah and I would not be together. Period.”

“So, let your girls watch what they want to watch,” he continued. “Let your dudes watch what they want to watch. Don’t give them a hard time. And if you find yourself in one of those relationships, maybe it’s time to have a conversation.”

Freddie Prinze Jr. Reveals He And Sarah Michelle Gellar Won’t Share The Screen Anytime Soon

Although fans loved watching the on-screen and off-screen couple share their chemistry with their characters, Prinze has a different take.

“We only worked together, while we were together, on Scooby-Doo, and otherwise neither one of us I felt thought it would be very interesting for us to be in a job together,” Prinze revealed.

“I don’t think it’s that exciting to watch two people struggle to be together when, you know, they’re going home together at the end of the night,” he continued.

“Odds are, if we were in a movie together it would be a romantic comedy, based on my track record and hers,” he added. “So yeah, we never thought that was something that we would be that interested in because that’s our life.”

Although fans may not be able to see the power couple share the screen again anytime soon, they sure loved when Gellar and Prinze Jr. recreated the iconic scene from “Dirty Dancing” for Halloween!
