In addition to her triple-threat status, Jennifer Lopez is known for her curves and voluptuous physique. Over the years, the former American Idol judge has flitted around award shows and the like, with stylish dresses that only do more to flatter those curves.
Besides her outfits, the actress mentioned how proud and confident of her body she is. A while back, Lopez shared her strict exercise and diet regimen with the public, so it's no secret that she goes through a lot to keep herself in tip-top shape.
However, the 42-year-old wasn't as confident about her body in the past. In 2011, she revealed that she once got in a brawl with a manager who told her to lose weight. The manager became her ex-manager not too long after.
Lopez Once Struggled With Her Size
Before her curve enhancing dresses and trips to the gym, Lopez wasn't as confident in her body as she is now. The actress struggled with what she thought was the ideal weight and attempted to shed the extra pounds.
In a 2016 interview with HELLO!, Lopez opened up about her body image and how she got through her insecurities.
"It's hard to avoid comparing yourself to others," the singer said. "I remember thinking I wasn't thin enough because I had curves. But I've learned that being healthy and feeling great aren't about having one specific body type; it's a completely individual thing."
Lopez said she embraced her body after realizing that feeling beautiful is an attitude, not an image. During the interview, she advised everyone to hold on to their best features no matter how much they could pale when compared to others. The actress also revealed that dancing was a hobby when she felt especially down.
"When my confidence is lagging, I dance," the 46-year-old revealed. "There's something about seeing what my body is capable of and feeling the endorphin rush that comes with a good dance session that really helps boost my mood. I still consider myself a dancer at heart, and I love it."
Lopez Fired Her Manager
Early in her career, Lopez talked about how she faced some unflattering comments concerning her body from outsiders and her team. The actress revealed how her manager told her she needed to be "thinner."
According to Independent, the actress said, "They kept telling me to lose weight, and I was a dancer, and I was athletic and even my manager at the time, who I no longer work with, was telling me: 'You need to lose weight, You need to be thinner.'"
After their exchange, Lopez reportedly fired the manager because his comment infuriated her. "I was just so infuriated that somebody said you couldn't have a little extra meat on you – because I was by no means fat," Lopez revealed.
"That was so mean and closed-minded. I was like: 'No, this is who I am, and this is the type of woman that I grew up with, and it was beautiful, and there's no reason to be anybody but myself." The incident ensured that the "Serena" co-star no longer got unwelcome comments like that.
Lopez Allegedly Hit The Gym While With Alex Rodriguez
According to Life and Style, Lopez didn't start bulking up until she married Alex Rodriguez. The actress allegedly swapped her workout routine for a more intense and muscle-building one.
"Jennifer has always been extremely fit and athletic," an insider told the news outlet.
"Since she's been with Alex, though, she's been bulking up, and he loves it." The source also mentioned that the former professional baseball player was very much in support of the change and kept talking about her new physique. "He was overheard complimenting her super strong and defined arms, saying how sexy they are," the insider added.
How Lopez Keeps Fit
The 46-year-old has a reputation as a fitness inspiration and continually gives tips on how to stay in shape. During an interview with Us Weekly, the actress spoke about maintaining her body and mentioned sleep as an important element.
"I love a good nine or 10 hours, but I can never get that," she said. "So seven or eight is mandatory. [If I don't get it] I just don't feel right. I start feeling crazy, I get emotional, and I feel tired all the time." As a singer, actress, and dancer, Lopez has a busy schedule that usually involves many trips. She revealed that she kept fit by relying on two separate personal trainers.

"When I am in New York I work out with David Kirsch – he's an amazing trainer," she said. "When I'm in L.A, I work with Tracy Anderson. I like the balance that they both give me. They have two totally different approaches. I like switching it up with my body."
She also admitted that she complimented her rigorous workout regime with a balanced diet and ensured her two children, Emme and Max, were not left out. "We eat a lot of green vegetables, asparagus, Brussel sprouts, broccoli and kale," she said. "I love to cook a lot of stuff; I love cooking Puerto Rican food because that's what I grew up on."
