Britney Spears now sees fans fearing that she isn’t even controlling her own social media. The 38-year-old pop princess has seen panic on her Instagram steadily rising this month – Britney’s 2008-commenced conservatorship combined with sporadic and repetitive posting throughout 2020 have generated immense concern. And not in a trolling way.
Britney recently made global headlines for stating: “This is me being authentic and as real as it gets!!!!” The latest photo from the beauty saw little in the way of enthusiasm as her 25.1 million followers – by the masses – begged her to send a sign that she is, indeed, ok. For some, that sign may never come as the “Toxic” singer is deemed not to be controlling her feed.
Britney’s Monday photo showed her in a look that her Instagram followers are more than familiar with. The bombshell has rocked the string floral crop top and tan pants outfit multiple times this year – much like the earlier snaps, this one showed Spears shot against a plain white wall.
A piercing gaze and a caption reading “GOD BLESS YOU ALL !!!!!” completed the post. The comments section took less than an hour to see fans pleading with the singer to confirm she is okay.
While fans threw out clothing suggestions – “Wear pink” or “wear black shorts” to indicate safety or danger – one comment gaining likes queried whether Spears is even the one uploading the content.
“This can’t be her uploading same outfit pictures all the time.” Over 1,000 users have liked the reply.
“Yeah, seems super sketchy,” one fan replied, with another writing that Britney is “in a glass box.” Spears’ finances, alongside other aspects of her life, are controlled by her father and his lawyer. #FreeBritney is the result. More below.
Early 2020 saw Britney against a red backdrop in over 12 images as she posed in a bathing suit she claimed to belong to her grandmother and snapped either solo or with boyfriend Sam Asghari. As the months passed, Britney’s Instagram maintained its plain wall and close-up photo style, with the red wall disappearing and being replaced by a white one.
For fans, the posts – even the singer herself claiming she is ok – aren’t doing it. “What is going on?!? Getting weirder and weirder,” one fan wrote. More after the video.
Britney, who was accused of avoiding the “are you okay?” question as she recently answered fan questions and revealed chili dogs to be her favorite food, took to IG three days ago. The message from the singer read:
“I get how some people might not like my posts or even understand them, but this is Me being happy ….. this is Me being authentic and as real as it gets !!!!! I want to inspire people to do the same and just be themselves without pleasing others ….. that’s the key to happiness ???? !!!!!!”
