#FREEBRITNEY: Britney Spears' Conservatorship Case Could Hit The White House

The fight to free Britney Spears is making its way to the White House.

Just before the weekend (on July 9th), a petition arose on WhiteHouse.org, asking "the federal government to call on congress to act on an issue: The conservatorship and civil liberties of Britney Spears."

"Since 2008 Britney Spears has been in a conservatorship that gives her conservator full control over her personal life & finances/estate. Conservatorships are typically used for those that are SEVERELY mentally ill."

Yet the "Circus" singer seems anything but incapacitated.

"Since ‘08, she has been on 3 world tours with dangerous flying & fire stunts. It’s safe to say she is sane enough to feed and cloth herself," the petition said.

"With this conservatorship she is unable to properly fight for her freedom as she isn’t legally allowed to hire her own lawyer."

"We need this petition so that Britney can hire her own lawyer and live a normal life as a 38 year old woman with two kids."

Her 'Attempts Were Shut Down'

"She has tried over the years to fight, attempts were shut down. Please look into this case. Every American deserves civil liberties."

The petition currently sits at 27,000+ signatures (10,000 of which came in the last 24 hours). However, it still needs over 70,000 more signatures "to get a response from the White House," and it needs them within the next 30 days...which, in this case, is August 8th.

Last week was a big one for the #FreeBritney movement, a trend which carried strong into Monday.

Conservatorship 'Prevents The Pop Star From Controlling Her Life'

Just a few hours ago, BusinessInsider headlined: "Inside Britney Spears' conservatorship, the 12-year legal arrangement that prevents the pop star from controlling her life and $59 million fortune.

"Since its implementation the conservatorship has generated a lot of controversy among Spears' fans. Some think she's being controlled and manipulated, which has fueled the #FreeBritney movement."

"But those close to Spears have told several media outlets over the years that the conservatorship is meant to help the pop icon and that she is very involved in business decisions," the write-up said...but the people aren't buying it.

'Where Is Her Money?'

Advocate Arnold García tweeted, "It's a scam! Please expose her abusers."

"So unbelievable," another wrote. "Can you imagine a man putting up with that?"

Yet the question remains: "Where is her money?"

Backing this up with court documents, an August 2018 report from ET Online said "The 'Piece of Me' singer made a grand total of $56,562,912.38 in 2017."

And financial documents obtained by The Blast last year show some sobering data too.

Britney Spears Paid Out 'Over $1 Million' To Her Conservators...Again

As The Blast reported in August 2019: "[Britney] also spent over $1 million for fees paid to her conservators and case management advisors, including father Jamie Spears, who collected $128,000."

"Expenses listed do not include Britney's time spent in a mental health facility from earlier this year."

"All of the payments paid to the advisors, as well as the entire management of Britney's conservatorship, will come into play as the investigation into the singer's case continues."

A handwritten letter from Britney herself resurfaced on Friday night. Amongst the multiple bomb drops: Spears saying she was paying her handlers millions of dollars to afford their lofty lifestyles...and this was written way back in 2008/2009, meaning it's been happening for at least ten years.
