For some Hollywood couples, age is nothing but a number. But that doesn’t mean they’re immune to criticism.
Several A-listers are in relationships with huge age gaps, and they’re not afraid to talk about it.
Sofia Richie and Scott Disick shocked the world when they confirmed their romance three-years-ago, mainly because Disick is 15-years older. But Richie never let it get to her.
She told Cosmopolitan, the negativity “doesn’t bother me because I’m very happy. Why would I let someone from the middle of nowhere ruin that for me?”
Here are four other couples who’ve defended their age difference:
Florence Pugh, 24, has defended her 21-year age difference with boyfriend, Zach Braff, 45, several times since the two went public in April 2019.
Recently, the “Midsommar” actress discussed their romance during an interview with Elle Uk.
“I have the right to hang out and be with and go out with anyone I want to,” she told the magazine. “I’ve always found this part of what people do really bizarre. I’m an actor because I like acting and I don’t mind people watching my stuff, but people have no right to educate me on my private life.”
The couple, who got married in 2018, has a 10-year age difference.
Jonas is 27 and Priyanka Chopra is 37. And according to Chopra, they get asked about their age difference a lot.
“People gave us a lot of shit about that and still do. I find it really amazing when you flip it and the guy is older, no one cares, and actually people like it,” she told InStyle in 2019.
A source close to Jonas told People in 2018, “The age difference is not a big deal to them whatsoever. [Nick] loves dating older women, and if anything it makes Priyanka even more attractive to him.”
Sarah Paulson, 45, and Holland Taylor, 77, have been together since 2015 and went public with their romance in 2016.
“There’s a poignancy to being with someone older. I think there’s a greater appreciation of time and what you have together and what’s important, and it can make the little things seem very small,” Paulson told the New York Times.
“What I can say absolutely is that I am in love, and that person happens to be Holland Taylor,” she said.
The actor and the model have been together for over two years, and have a 23-year-age gap.
Leonardo DiCaprio, 45, and Camila Morrone, 23, don’t usually discuss their relationship (or their age difference). However, during an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Morrone made it clear she believes people should date who they want.
“There’s so many relationships in Hollywood — and in the history of the world — where people have large age gaps. I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date,” she told the outlet.
