Over the last few weeks, Jada Pinkett Smith has been one of the biggest trending topics on social media. This is after an interview that singer August Alsina did with Angela Yee in which he revealed that he dated Pinkett while still being married to Will Smith. Smith and Pinkett have been known to have an open marriages and were separated at one point. This scenario did play out with Alsina. He also added that Smith supposedly gave him his blessing to do this, which he reportedly denied.
On July 2, Pinkett took to Twitter to briefly speak on this relationship with Alsina as she said “There’s some healing that needs to happen… so I’m bringing myself to The Red Table.” This is in reference to her very popular ‘Red Table Talk’ show which airs on Facebook. Nobody knew when the set date would be for her to appear on the show but now, she has revealed a clip of it as she has Will Smith with her as well.
“We were over,” Pinkett Smith said. “From there, as time went on, I got into a different kind of entanglement with August.”
Pinkett also shut down the speculation that Alsina was given permission. She also didn’t want him viewed as a homewrecker.
“One of the things I want to clear up that was kind of swirling in the press was you giving permission, which the only person who can give permission in that particular circumstance is myself,” Pinkett Smith said.
“But what August was actually trying to communicate — because I could actually see how he would perceive it as permission because we were separated amicably — I think he also wanted to make it clear that he’s not a homewrecker, which he’s not.”
Pinkett added that she wanted to help Alsina emotionally at the time. She also wanted to feel happiness in that situation but had to find happiness within herself. She and Smith rekindled things after her relations with Alsina.
Fans have been given over 12 minutes of this Red Table Talk episode but Pinkett has still not put out the whole thing yet. She explained on social media that this is due to other current events happening around us.
“I brought myself to the table last week but decided to hold the episode out of respect for the far more important situations that have been happening around us,” said Pinkett.
Many people on social media have since been surprised while others haven’t regarding this confirmed relationship from the past. A lot of people were aware of how close Pinkett and Alsina were years ago and how there was a good chance that things had transitioned into a relationship.
