Armie Hammer & his wife Elizabeth Chambers have been together for 10 years and knew each other long before that. The “Man From U.N.C.L.E.” star (now 33-year-old) posted on Instagram sharing a touching photo from years past which showed himself and Elizabeth together.
“The Game Plan” actress (now 37-year-old) shared an identical Instagram update and the two have not allowed comments to be posted on their latest photos for obvious reasons.
They have two children together and have announced that they will “co-parent”.
They both posted a lengthy statement sharing how the split was difficult for them but that they believe it is best. They started by saying the following, acknowledging their history together:
“Thirteen years as best friends, soulmates, partners and then parents.”
They both described their marriage as a page in a book that needs to be turned:
“It has been an incredible journey, but together, we’ve decided to turn the page and move on from our marriage.”
Describing their parenting situation came next.
“As we enter into this next chapter, our children and relationship as co-parents and dear friends will remain our priority.”
Along with sharing how they intend to stay close friends and making raising their children important, they also asked for their followers to respect their privacy. They asked for people to be loving online:
“We understand this news lends itself to public dialogue, but in the interest of our children and our family, we’re asking for privacy, compassion and love during this time.”
Some have speculated that Armie’s relationship was doomed from the moment he began fervently advocating that men, specifically straight “white males” who don’t approve of other white homosexual men, as people who abuse their “privilege”. (As quoted by Independent.co)
His remarks received major criticism from fans who follow him, especially since he was married and had been having serious relationship issues with Elizabeth at the time of his comments. His portrayal of gay protagonists and his disapproval towards straight white men quickly created controversy on his social media posts.
Yet despite many trolls accusing Armie of being a terrible role model amid his criticism of straight white men, it was only two weeks ago (from the time of this post) that Armie took Elizabeth and their kids on an exotic vacation down to the Caribbean. The pictures they took were not only touching, but marked an occasion where Elizabeth actually praised him as a wonderful father to their children:
“Our babies couldn’t ask for a more adventurous and entertaining dad and we’re lucky that you’re ours. We love you. ❤️ “
