The team that works with comedian and actor Chris D’Elia is attempting to defend his reputation after he was accused last week by several woman of sexual improprieties when they were minors. Multiple women claim that the “You” star tried to solicit sexual acts and photos from them when they were underage, most of which happened online via email and text exchanges.
D’Elia’s team released some of his exchanges with those women this week in attempt to provide more context to their discussions.
A woman named Clara Scholler posted email exchanges on Twitter with D’Elia from 2012 in which he said he wanted to have “naked sex” with her. His team released emails between the two that show him asking her how old she is. She said “12.” Then he said, “Answerrrrr,” and she replied, “24?” She was actually 17 at the times.
Despite not getting a concrete answer from Scholler, D’Elia still asked her for photos and continued talking with her.
Another woman, Colleen Riley, shared an exchange in which D’Elia asked if they could “make out.” She responded by saying, “Chris, I’m 16.” His team showed an email from him back to her with him saying, “Oh shit. I thought you were at my [standup] show. Gotta be 18 [to get into that] at least. My bad. Bye.”
Simone Rossi was another accuser who posted her experience with D’Elia, and also said he asked her to make out and send him photos.
“Imagine being 16 and being groomed by a stand-up comedian twice ur age and the only reason you never met up and never got physically m*lested was because u had just gotten a boyfriend of ur own age,” she wrote on Twitter. “He was the one that used the power imbalance between us to his advantage so f–k chris d’elia.”
His team released an alleged email from her to D’Elia in 2019 in which she told him she was “21 now and [down to f–k].” He never responded.
“I have never knowingly pursued any underage women at any point,” he said in a statement. “All of my relationships have been both legal and consensual and I have never met or exchanged any inappropriate photos with the people who have tweeted about me. I was a dumb guy who ABSOLUTELY let myself get caught up in my lifestyle. That’s MY fault.”
