Rumors have been swirled for a couple weeks now that "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Nene Leakes may not be returning for Season 13 of the show. The 52-year-old is an original cast member of the Bravo reality series, but speculation about her potential departure has been spreading after she made some comments following the firings of four "Vanderpump Rules" cast members earlier this month.

Steven Grossman, a representative for Leakes, recently told PEOPLE that she is having conversations with NBC Universal about her future. A source told The Sun that she is interested in her own show and feels that her time on "Real Housewives" has run its course.

“Nene is pursuing her own show at E! because she’s felt like her time at Bravo has been up for a while,” the source said.

The insider added that Leakes wants to “go out on her own terms.”

However, it seems that E! might not be that into the idea of giving Leakes her own spinoff show. The network reportedly “has shown no interest in green-lighting the series."

Whatever the case is, Grossman said that Leakes absolutely has not been fired from "Real Housewives."

“It is absolutely not true that Nene has been fired from RHOA,” he said to PEOPLE. “Furthermore, it was made abundantly clear prior that she will always be welcome on the series as long as she wants to be.”

He added that Leakes and Bravo “have not made any decisions regarding next season specifically. Any speculation or sources trying to create controversy by stating otherwise are incredibly inaccurate. Bloop.”

Speculation about Leakes possible departure started when she wrote a since-deleted tweet that read, “You are NOT gonna get away with this! I promise."

She also was critical of the network on social media on the heels of it firing Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute for a racist incident involved their fellow "Vanderpump Rules" cast member Faith Stowers.

"Well alrighty then! Now we have a few more questions to ask about in other areas where there’s a major difference." Leakes said about the news. “Should we talk privately or publicly."

Some fans have been calling for Leakes to be fired after she made a racially insensitive comment about Bravo co-star Claudia Jordan. During an episode of "Real Housewives," she referred to Jordan, who is bi-racial, as a "half breed."

Both Bravo and E! are part of NBC Universal. None of the networks have made any official comments about her future.
