Nicolas Cage Ready To Sink His Teeth Into THIS New Role!

Actor Nicolas Cage is ready to head back to the big screen!

The California-born actor, 57, has recently been cast as the iconic vampire in yet another adaption of Dracula.

The upcoming film, called "Renfield" puts the focus on Dracula's henchman Renfield, played by "Warm Bodies" star Nicholas Hoult.

Universal Pictures' upcoming monster movie will be directed by Chris McKay, who also directed Chris Pratt’s “The Tomorrow War” and the animated “The LEGO Batman Movie.”

Comic book writer Robert Kirkman, who is best known for co-creating “The Walking Dead,” will be producing the film along with David Alpert, Bryan Furst, and Sean Furst.

The character of R.M. Renfield first appears in the 1897 novel “Dracula” by Bram Stoker. Renfield was a patient in an asylum who was obsessed with drinking blood in an effort to find immortality. Under Dracula’s influence, he begins eating flies, then spiders, then rats, then birds, all in an attempt to “accumulate” life.

With the promise of immortality, Renfield seems ready to do whatever Dracula asks until he meets Mina Harker, whom he knows Dracula is after. After he urges her to flee, he then confronts Dracula, but proves to be no match for the sinister vampire.

It’s not clear how much of the book’s plot the film adaption will follow, but, interestingly enough, the character of Renfield has already made some interesting contributions to science.

In 1992, psychologist Richard Noll coined the term Renfield Syndrome to describe patients who display an obsession with drinking blood, also known as clinical vampirism. Usually, this syndrome consists of patients exhibiting zoophagia, which is a compulsion to eat insects or live animals with the intention of drinking their blood.

Earlier this year, Cage starred in 2021’s horror film “Willy’s Wonderland.”

Cage doesn’t say a line throughout the film, which seems to be inspired by the popular game “Five Nights of Freddy’s.” Cage must spend the night cleaning and fixing up the shuttered location, fighting for survival against life-sized animatronic puppets.

The indie film helped inspire some love for Cage, who had taken a step back from acting after starring in 1997’s “Face/Off,” 2004’s “National Treasure,” and 2007’s “Ghost Rider.”

“Of course in a horror movie with animatronics Nick Cage turns out to be the real monster,” one fan wrote. “I swear the guy is just awesome.”

“Went in the trailer expecting a horror movie about a janitor hiding from animatronics in a fnaf like style, but ended up getting a movie about living animatronics hiding from a badass janitor,” said another.

Another fan joked, “Nicholas is like.... ‘We were filming?????’”

“I'm loving the new Nick Cage,” another wrote. “Mandy was great, The Color out of Space was amazing and this looks like it’s gonna be another amazing one.”

“Nic Cage making that big comeback with awesome movies lately,” one fan wrote.
