Rapper Young Dolph was laid to rest today, and his body was escorted to its final resting place by a police-style escort.
According to multiple reports, a funeral for the murdered rapper was held at the First Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. The rapper, whose real name was Adolph Thorton Jr, was killed on November 17, in front of a popular cookie shop in the city.
The Memphis Police Department confirmed the funeral was taking place today, issuing a statement saying, “MPD is on the scene 2835 Broad Avenue for the funeral of Adolph Robert Thornton Jr. The family of Adolph Robert Thornton Jr. asks that everyone please respect their privacy during this difficult time as they mourn the loss of their loved one.”

The cops are blocking off certain streets in the area for traffic control. Images and videos of the funeral are appearing on social media, including pictures of the program that features a picture of Dolph and his grandmother. A quote from the famous rapper is listed inside the program, saying “You only get one shot at life, one life to live, make the most of it, put as many smiles as you can on people’s faces, help as many people as you can.”
On Twitter, several funeral attendees shared photos from inside the ‘Celebration of Life.’
The deadly shooting is still under investigation, and so far, no one has been arrested. As we reported, law enforcement officials located the Mercedes Benz used in the brutal killing, but it’s unclear if they have a suspect. Memphis Police Department captured images from surveillance cameras of the actual shooting, revealing two masked gunmen stormed the cookie shot and ambushed the rapper. In the photos, one of the men is carrying a Draco AK-47 assault rifle.

At the time, Young Dolph was headed to St. James Missionary Baptist Church to give back to his community by handing out Turkeys’ for Thanksgiving. Investigators called the shooting “senseless” and added, “our hearts go out to the Thornton family and all who were affected by this horrific act of violence.”,
Shockingly, fans paying tribute to the late rapper were faced with another shooting as someone opened fire on an area near his memorial. As you can imagine, on the day following the death, a crowd had gathered outside of ‘Makeda’s Cookies’ placing balloons and flowers. Unfortunately, one man was shot near the location but was rushed to a hospital and survived.

Fans flooded social media with messages following the funeral, with one saying, “Unbelievable one day you here & the next day you’re gone! Rest well.” Another added, “May His Legacy & Name live forever! Rest in eternal peace King Dolph.”
