Aaron Carterclaims his family is trying to put him under a conservatorship, similar to the one placed on Britney Spears -- and says they used his ex-fianceé to attempt it.
According to the 'I Want Candy' singer, his family has been actively working to place him under a conservatorship and says his fiancee Melanie Martin has been communicating with his estranged sister, Angel Conrad. Carter believes his family is trying to gain a supporter in Martin, as part of an overall plan to great a court to grant a conservatorship.
As you know, if successful, the family would be able to control his finances and any medical treatment they believe is needed in his case. Aaron has struggled with substance abuse issues over the years and mental health. It's unclear if the family has actually contacted an attorney, or filed any paperwork to start the process. It should be noted, based on the negative publicity in Britney Spears' case, it will be increasingly harder to place anyone -- especially a famous singer -- under a full conservatorship.
Aaron Carter Believes Ex-Fiancee Is Working With Family To Gain Conservatorship
The allegations were sparked by a surprising breakup of Carter and his ex-fianceé, who gave birth to the couple's first child in the past few days. "Due to personal reasons, Melanie Martin and I have decided to go our separate ways. There has been a very big lie and my sister communicating w my ex-fianceé ruined everything considering she knew what angel tried to do to me in court thanks angel you ruined my family. God bless," the singer tweeted.
He continued, "I have the most conniving deceiving family and Melanie has been lying to me the whole time communicating with my twin sister and the family members who tried to put me in prison and who tried to get a conservatorship on me in court. I’m in shock this is horrible."
'Backstreet Boys' Star Nick Carter Says He Has Nothing To Do With Conservatorship
'Backstreet Boys' star Nick Carter -- Aaron's brother -- claims he is not involved with trying to get Aaron into a conservatorship. The famous singer simply says he has NO relationship with his brother, or Melanie, and sees this as another way Aaron is trying to bring him and the family "down."
Back in 2019, Angel got a restraining order against Aaron, claiming he threatened to send a hitman to her home. As you can imagine, Aaron is upset that his baby mama has any contact with his estranged sister -- who she admitted she has been communicating with on a regular basis. Interestingly, Melanie doesn't believe the Carter family is trying to get a conservatorship, saying they never grilled her on any information regarding the singer.
Aaron Carter Says Family Is Trying To 'Drain' Him So His House Is 'Taken Away'
"I know it’s devastating but what she’s done is unforgivable she knew my boundaries and especially not to speak to a certain half of my family that tried to depict me as a crazy psychotic human being and a pedophile and that’s who she was speaking to my twin sister who told my bro," Aaron said. Adding his family is "trying to drain" him so his house would be "taken away."
