While ”Counting On” alumni Derick and Jill Dillard have apparently had a falling out with the Duggar family, it appears as if they may be trying to put even more distance between themselves and the Duggars. They are apparently planning to move the family out of the United States.
Derick and Jill would not be the first members of the family to move away from the Duggar family’s home of Arkansas. Jill’s sister Jinger lives with husband Jeremy Vuolo in Los Angeles.
In a statement provided to The Sun, Derick revealed that the family wants to move internationally. This wouldn’t be the first time. Jill, Derick, and their oldest son moved to Central America to perform missionary work several years ago. It looks as if the family will be doing the same again in the future.
Derick spoke to the outlet, saying, “Our original plan from the time we married was to serve permanently on the international mission field.” He also claimed that the family would move wherever they felt God was leading them.
In 2017, the Dillard family moved back to Arkansas, closer to Jill and Derick’s families. Seemingly, that didn’t work out very well because the couple had a falling out with the Duggar family after the birth of their second son, Sam.
After Sam’s birth, Derick claimed that he and Jill never received compensation for appearing on the TLC reality show “Counting On.” They left the show in 2017, and Jill has appeared only briefly in the background since. This led to a falling out with family patriarch Jim Bob.
Derick has spoken candidly about not being able to access the Duggar family home unless Jim Bob is present, and the same apparently applies to Jill. Jill once had to call and ask permission to help her sister, Jessa, when she was in labor and nobody was available to help her.
About repairing that relationship, Derick has said, “We recognize that only God can change people’s hearts and bring healing.” Derick claims that it is Jim Bob’s fear of Derick’s influence on the family that has led to the ban of the Dillards from the home.
At this time, Derick has not divulged exactly where the family will be moving. Since the family has put some effort into learning Spanish, it would make sense if they returned to Central America for additional missionary work.
In the past, Derick has also performed missionary work in Nepal. He lived there when he and Jill first began courting. She and Jim Bob traveled to Nepal to meet him for the first time. The meeting was filmed for “Counting On.”
