A man is under arrest in Los Angeles after being accused of brutally shooting his four young children, along with their grandmother.
According to multiple reports, Germarcus David was booked on suspicion of murder Monday morning, in connection to the shooting of four children — all under the age of 12. On Sunday night, Los Angeles Sheriff’s received an emergency call to a quiet street in Lancaster, California and after arriving found all the kids — along with their grandmother — suffering from gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.
Paramedics arriving on the scene pronounced all five victims dead. At this point, their names have not been released to the public. According to the L.A. Times, David is a licensed security guard who has held three firearm permits since 2012. His most recent permit was listed as “canceled” after it expired in August of 2020.
Neighbors described the horrific scene to reporters who have gathered nearby the house to get updates on the investigation. Angelo Beltran, who lives a few doors down, says she heard a lot of screaming coming from the house on Sunday. “We saw a woman screaming outside, and we don’t know who she is, but she was yelling,” she said. Another neighbor claims the woman was screaming, “My babies are gone!”
Neighbors Describe Accused Killer As ‘Nice and ‘Quiet’
As for David, one neighbor said he would sometimes walk a dog around the neighborhood and see a man sitting in front of the house. “He seemed nice, quiet. You wouldn’t think much of him,” the person said.
The L.A. Times identified two of the children as Amaya, 12, and Demarcus,9 — but, wasn’t clear on the ages of the other two children. A person working for the family, who would drop them off at school and pick them up, learned of the mass killing when she arrived to pick the kids up Monday morning, according to the outlet. “Amaya was a sweet girl, and every morning, the mom would tell her, ‘Say good morning to coach,’” the person said. Adding, “She was always protecting her brother, making sure he was safe at school. It’s just unbelievable. I can’t believe they’re gone.”

“Someone told me or I asked which house where the shooting was, and then I don’t remember anything after that, They were just good kids,” he continued.
According to the kids’ “coach,” he didn’t know David very well, but the two would sometimes talk about taking care of the children. He claims the accused killer promised the kids fishing, but the plans fell through. For several years, the kids would call him “coach” and was a day-care provider for them for several years, claiming to always treat them like they were his own.
“To do this to the kids, it’s cowardly. It’s just unbelievable,” he said.
At this point, it’s unclear what preceded the brutal killings, and if the woman screaming was the children’s mother. David is being held in Los Angeles County Jail on a $2 million bail. The accused killer is due in court this week to face the charges.
