Kyle Rittenhouse may be a free man, but that doesn’t mean he is being welcomed with open arms by everyone.

The infamous “Kenosha Protest Shooter,” who showed up to the protest with an AR-15 and medical kit, killed two people and wounded another, was acquitted of the crimes he committed in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

On Friday, November 19, The Blast reported that a hand-picked jury by Rittenhouse, found the teenager ‘not guilty’ of use of a dangerous weapon, first-degree intentional homicide with use of a dangerous weapon, attempted first-degree intentional homicide with the use of a dangerous weapon, and two counts of recklessly endangering safety with the use of a dangerous weapon.

The NOT GUILTY verdict came after a two-week trial that begged to answer the question, “Was Rittenhouse acting in self-defense when he fatally shot two people and wounded another during civil unrest?” The jury deliberated for 26 hours and finally came to their ‘not guilty’ verdict.

While many people across the US celebrated the verdict and his freedom, many others were appalled by the trial and justice system.

Now, students at Arizona State University are petitioning to have him kicked out.

According to 12news.com, after the verdict was announced, David Hancock, a spokesperson for the Rittenhouse family, said the teenager's next move was to focus on studying nursing at ASU.

"The happiest I've ever seen Kyle in the past year and three months -- besides when he got his puppy Milo -- was when he got his Arizona State student ID in the mail," Hancock told reporters.

Rittenhouse is reportedly enrolled as a “non-degree seeking student” online despite saying he wants to become a nurse during the trial.

The student group is demanding four things be done:

  1. Withdraw Kyle Rittenhouse from ASU
  2. Release a statement against white supremacy and racist murderer Kyle Rittenhouse
  3. Reaffirm support for the multicultural center on campus as a space safe from white supremacy
  4. Redirect funding from ASU PD to support the multicultural center and establishment of a CAARE center on campus

“Even with a not-guilty verdict from a flawed ‘justice’ system – Kyle Rittenhouse is still guilty to his victims and the families of those victims. Join us to demand from ASU that those demands be met to protect students from a violent blood-thirsty murderer,” a statement from the group of students reads.

An ASU spokesperson confirmed with 12 News on Monday, November 29, Rittenhouse has not gone through the ASU admissions process, and "university records show that he is not currently enrolled in any classes at ASU."
