"My skeleton was all that was left in the seat," Jennifer Lawrence said.

Traveling by air can be nerve-racking. Although it's much safer than driving, the mid-air scares one could get from turbulence alone are almost second to none. And the "Hunger Games" lead actress has had her share of flight trauma.

Jennifer Lawrence came into the spotlight in 2010, and has become a Hollywood staple ever since. As an A-list actress, there's no doubt she needed to catch flights when the job demanded.

What Happened?

The Oscar winner recalled the traumatic experience in her interview with Vanity Fair. She traveled on a private plane from her hometown of Kentucky to New York City in the summer of 2017. Suddenly, the plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Buffalo.

This was because one of the engines failed, and the plane had to push on with just one engine working. The 31-year-old recalled that the moment was so scary; she was almost too sure that would be the end.

Lawrence was terrified to the point that she made peace with herself and her loved ones telepathically. "We were all going to perish. I started leaving mental voicemails to my family, saying things like, 'I've had a great life, I'm sorry," she recalled in the interview with People magazine.

She Was More Concerned For Her Dog

Contrary to the popular belief that what doesn't kill makes one stronger, Lawrence felt the incident made her more terrified of flying. But at that moment, that wasn't the worst part.

Her dog Pippi sat on her lap, and she was so bummed that she was going to experience that. "I simply felt bad. Everyone was going to be devastated. The worst part was that Pippi was sitting on my lap. Here's a small thing who didn't volunteer to be a part of any of this."

However, there was a brim of hope when the jet was near a runway with firetrucks and ambulances. "I began to pray. But I thought, Oh, my God, maybe we'll make it through this? I'll be a burn victim; it'll be painful, but we might survive. Lord Jesus, please let me keep my hair. Wrap your hair-loving arms around me..."

Fortunately, many sustained only minor injuries, and she made it to her destination via another flight.

In Other News, Lawrence Took A Break From Acting

Lawrence's acting career has declined in recent years. In 2017, the actor appeared in only one film: "Mother!" She then appeared in three films between 2018 and 2019: "Red Sparrow; Love," "Antosha," and "Dark Phoenix."

While "Red Sparrow" was a mild success, the other three films were critiqued as box office flops.

Because of this, Lawrence began to lose faith in her own abilities as an actress. She said, "I wasn't pumping out the quality that I should have. It had come to the point where I couldn't perform anything correctly. I felt like everyone had gotten sick of me. And then I felt like I reached a stage where people weren't delighted just by my existence."

It made her feel hollow and unfulfilled. So she took three steps back to re-align herself and her interests. However, she is rumored to feature in Adam McKay's upcoming film "Don't Look Up," alongside Leonardo Dicaprio.

What's Next For Jennifer Lawrence?

Rumors had it that Lawrence was about to become a mother! The actress is expecting her first child with her husband, Cooke Maroney. However, she revealed that she was not interested in publicizing her pregnancy with the press.

Lawrence stated, "If I was at a dinner party and someone said, 'Oh, my God, you're expecting a baby,' I wouldn't say, 'God, I can't talk about that.' 'Get away from me, you maniac!" But my instincts tell me to keep their privacy as private as possible for the rest of their life."

And for Lawrence, the best way to prevent such sticky situations was to totally keep her pregnancy low profile. Because she didn't want anyone to feel expressly welcomed into her child's world. It's safe to say with her share of fame, she wouldn't want that much attention on her offspring.
