Meek Mill is probably in B. Simone‘s good books today – but Twitter isn’t having it. The 33-year-old rapper is currently fronting media outlets for jumping to the comedian, author, and “Wild ‘N Out'” star’s defense amid allegations that she directly swiped content – without permission – for her “Baby Girl: Manifest The Life You Want Book.” With 1,000 copies an hour sold, the book is no small-time gig for the 29-year-old. Meek Mill’s Twitter spree today does, however, now see him under fire for having blasted rapper Drake for allegedly using a ghostwriter.
Meek’s tweet backed Simone as he wrote: “B Simone canceled because she finnesed a book and made her way from the bottom lol what major companies y’all cancel for ripping our culture off? finding ways to display hate towards our own when they start doing good is showing amongst us a lot!”
He then opened it up to the floor, adding: “give me ya point why a girl from where we come from should be canceled because she finnesed a lil bit.. I really wanna know how people really think?”
Precisely the question that Twitter was asking. Meek Mill had major beef with “Toosie Slide” rapper Drake back in 2015, dissing him for using ghostwriters and mention their joint “Charged Up” collab in this context. Twitter had thoughts. “Meek Mill is standing up for B Simone for plagiarism but was beefing with Drake for having a ghostwriter,” one user wrote. The thought seemed echoed by another, writing: “Meek Mill really out here defending B. Simone for plagiarism but mad that Drake had a ghostwriter…
Yep, sounds like bullsh-t.” Scroll for more.
Meek Mill continued: “N***as rap about selling drugs and a life they didn’t live is that not finessing their own tho? A Louie shirt a stack … a Chanel 5500$ I don’t even think they donate to blacks they number one in our culture … Im just getting confused what we standing for collectively.”
As to Drake, 2015 saw him speak on his Apple radio show to address Meek Mill’s ghostwriter accusations. “Wow, I’m honored that you think this is staged/I’m flattered, man. In fact, I’m amazed,” he said, appearing to neither fully deny nor accept the allegation.
B. Simone – who is fresh from a storm saying that she wouldn’t date a 9-5 guy – is alleged to have swiped content from Pinterest for her best-selling book via “word-for-word” plagiarism. The star, followed, by 5 million on Instagram, is also CEO of her B. Simone Beauty range, where shades include Money Maker and Baby Girl. Twitter did seem to side slightly with B. Simone following Meek Mill’s tweets, but those shaking their heads at the rapper were also joined by some having had enough of the whole thing – “Meek Mill and B. Simone have one thing in common, they get in their own way by talking too much,” one wrote.
