Bravo has been doing a lot of damage control for allowing their desperate reality stars to get away with many injustices over the years. They have finally answered the prayers of some of their fans by firing “Vanderpump Rules” cast members Kristen Doute and Stassi Schroeder for past racist remarks and actions taken against former co-star Faith Stowers. Some Bravo celebrities are speaking out and prising the network for having the courage to fire these women. Now, they want to know who’s next! Here is a list of Bravolebrites who are rejoicing in the news.
Nene Leakes has been one of the most vocal housewives and not just about race, but with everything! Once the news broke that Schroeder and Doute got the axe, Leakes was one of the first people to comment, like and do the most. She posted a comment under the IG announcement. “Well alrighty then,” wrote Leakes. “Now we have a few more questions to ask about in other areas where there’s a major difference.” Fans were dying to know what or who she was talking about. The veteran housewife was not quick to share but knowing Leakes, she is probably waiting for the most opportune time.
Dr. Imani Walker of “Married 2 Medicine: L.A.” also had a few parting words for the privileged women. “This is a good start,” she began but like Leakes, she wanted to see more change and looked for what’s next. “Let’s continue to hold all those accountable for making racist remarks while continuing to develop a space where Black folks feel heard, seen and understood.” Dr. Walker is a psychiatrist and knows it’s a struggle to maintain a healthy mental state when there is so much hate. Her fans echoed her sentiments.
Porsha Williams grew up in a family of activist so, being out there on the front lines is second nature to her. She shared the clapping hand emoji. Since then Williams has moved on to bigger endeavours. She teamed up with Andy Cohen and W. Kamau Bell for a “Watch What Happens Live” special covering the protests, sharing what needs to change, and why. She also wanted to educate Bravo TV show viewers to think and look beyond what they see and know already to understand the struggle. The 38-year-old has also been using her platform to connect with her fans during this harsh time.
Wendy Osefo may not sound like a familiar Bravolebrity name, but she will be on the new season of “The Real Housewives of Potomac”. The political commentator and professor at John Hopkins University is more than qualified to speak on the subject. She shared her opinion with fans and offered a few options of what should happen next. “The next step should be for @bravotv to create a working group comprised of Black talent from @bravotv and executives to co-create a shared vision of inclusionary practices to ensure equity within the workplace. #BLACKLIVESMATTER.” Let’s wait and see if Cohen takes that advice.
Mariah Huq was satisfied with the firing of 2/3rds of the witches of WeHo but what made her uncomfortable was all the talks behind closed doors. Huq suggested that some transparency takes place. “I think a town hall meeting would be most appropriate. “No more private meetings that’s the problem! Too many different conversations going on… We need transparency. Actions speak louder than words! Value the creative, loyal, beautiful, talented, savvy, UNPARALLED, Black creators, producers & talent as we have Always Valued You! #InTHAtORDER #GoodEvening.”
Candiace Dillard is known on “The Real Housewives of Potomac” for speaking her piece no matter what. This situation is no different. “This is a great step as well, but I Think it would be helpful to accompany these terminations with a thorough explanation as to why they were let go. Especially given the fact that their racial indiscretions took place months, and in some cases years ago and they were allowed to keep their jobs.” She didn’t stop there, the 33-year-old wanted Bravo to explicitly share why they fired the women. “Having an honest conversation about why BRAVO is choosing not to associate with people who display implicit and explicit racial biases needs to be a part of the conversation if pop culture leaders (like my network) are going to help heal The wounds of racism in this country.”
Gizelle Bryant who usually has so much to say showed her support with a few words. “Very good to know,” said the mom of three. Byant has been out there protesting like a few of her other Bravo family members. While she tries to keep a low profile, the reality star had a hard time keeping her lips sealed when she saw the injustice towards George Floyd, Ahmaud Aubrey, and Breonna Taylor (just to name a small fraction). She has been spending a small amount of time on IG as she relishes the quality time she spends with her daughters. However, when she does post, it is about the BLM movement and where she can help.
Kenya Moore has also weighed in on the drama. For someone who is used to reading people within an inch of their life, the 49-year-old only had a few words to say. “This is the start of change!” wrote Moore. The former pageant girl has been showing her support for the Black Lives Matter movement and using her Instagram and Twitter to draw attention to the actions of racists and what movements her fans can support to show their alliance with the black community.
Finally, Reza Farahan. The loveable man and his mustache showed support for the firing by commenting with the praise hand emoji. The Persian has been on “Shah’s of Sunset” since day one and has never been afraid to speak his mind. He has called out plenty of his co-stars for less so if he kept silent on this topic it would be shocking to fans. He has since thrown a few likes underneath comments by fans in support of the women being fired.
