Kailyn Lowry quietly deleted her entire Twitter yesterday. The “Teen Mom 2” star’s now-blank account comes amid “Teen Mom OG” star Taylor Selfridge being fired over “past racist statements” – Black Lives Matter’s resurgence in the wake of May 25-murdered black man George Floyd now sees reality faces galore under the spotlight for their racist content, with the “Vanderpump Rules” franchise seemingly particularly hard-hit. Over on “Teen Mom OG At Home: Cory & Taylor’s Baby Special,” an axing of star Selfridge now sees MTV pulling the episode and ending its relationship with Ashley. Social networking platform Reddit has now put Pothead haircare founder Kailyn under the microscope.
The Teen Mom/Teen Mom 2 subreddit comes with a fanbase that knows its old-school episodes. Click here for a video dating back to Season 5 Episode 26 as Kailyn hashed it out with baby daddy Javi Marroquin over a haircut their shared son Isaac had received – Kailyn was seen voicing her distate over the way Javi dresses his son – she couldn’t put her finger on it, but the “Hispanic” vibe Javi was picking was, per Kailyn’s words, like a “thug.”
The Reddit thread was entitled: “In honor of Kailyn trying to run and hide from the racist things she has said/done in the past, here is the scene where Jo calls her out about her b.s. comments about Isaac’s haircut.”
The video showed the co-parenting couple talking. “You have him dress a certain way, you have him look a certain way…”Kailyn said, adding: “I think you forget about the fact that he’s half white and half Hispanic and I feel like you dress him in a sterotypical…way…and I don’t like it.”
Kailyn continued: “Little white boys don’t get their hair cut like that…He’s too young for that. He’s half white. I don’t like his hair cut like that. Please don’t do it.” While Javi seemed at a loss over how his styling of Isaac was offensive to Kailyn, the mom of three – expecting her fourth – said: “You dress him like a thug” as she branded the Hispanic style not to her approval. Meanwhile, Redditors filling the comments section are now – by the masses – suggesting that Kailyn’s Twitter once had re-tweets using the n-word.
One user wrote: “This is why she’s the worst and deserves to be dragged. ‘I think you forget who he is, he’s half white and he’s half Hispanic’. However the way his HISPANIC father dresses him is wrong and stereotypical so obviously the white side matters more. Unbelievable.” Meanwhile, another wrote: “It’s not a stereotype… It’s his culture. I am offended for him. Get over yourself.”
A separate thread showing a 2015 “All lives matter” tweet from the Delaware-based star then sparked mixed reviews, with some dubbing Kailyn racist – Kailyn has made no statements on her Instagram regarding the Reddit activity, however the account – followed by 3.8 million – did go dark for #BlackoutTuesday. Kailyn’s boys include mixed-race son Lux, fathered by Chris Lopez.
