Louis Vuitton designer, Virgil Abloh, died over the weekend at the young age of 41 after a two-year battle with cancer.

Abloh was an entrepreneur and designer who designed Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection from 2018 until his passing. He was also the CEO of Off-White, a fashion house that he founded in 2012.

His official Instagram account announced the news on November 28.

The statement read, “We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved Virgil Abloh, a fiercely devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Shannon Abloh, his children Lowe Abloh and Grey Abloh, his sister Edwina Abloh, his parents Nee and Eunice Abloh, and numerous dear friends and colleagues.”

Those “numerous dear friends and colleagues” include the entire Kardashian-Jenner family, Gigi and Bella Hadid, and Kanye ‘Ye’ West to name a few.

The rapper dedicated his Sunday Service to his good friend. In a link shared to his Donda Live site, the following message popped up, “IN LOVING MEMORY OF VIRGIL ABLOH THE CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF DONDA.”

The two have worked closely together on music and fashion throughout the years.

In the wake of his unfortunate death, it got us thinking, what other ways could Kanye pay tribute to his friend?

While it hasn't even been discussed, there is the possibility of the “Gold Digger” rapper helping out with Abloh’s designer duties at Louis Vuitton.

This would be a very sentimental nod to Abloh, and allow his creations to continue coming to life.

Again, this has not been discussed and is purely a hypothetical situation. It's also unclear if Abloh was currently working on anything or how much he shared with LV about his ongoing health battle.

But given how passionate Kanye has been about remembering and commemorating his mother, Donda, him continuing Abloh’s legacy doesn’t seem too far-fetched!

For over two years, the LV designer battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, Cardiac Angiosarcoma, the IG statement continued.

“He chose to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing numerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art, and culture. Through it all, his work ethic, infinite curiosity, and optimism never wavered. Virgil was driven by his dedication to his craft and to his mission to open doors for others and create pathways for greater equality in art and design. He often said, ‘Everything I do is for the 17-year-old version of myself,’ believing deeply in the power of art to inspire future generations.”

Abloh is survived by his wife, two children, sister and parents.

Rest in peace.
