Angela Simmons literally needed no frills to knock the camera dead this weekend. The “Growing Up Hip-Hop” star whose Simmons Beauty brand has been making waves ever since its May launch updated her Instagram on Monday. Angela, 32, had hit up a beach with 2016-born son Sutton, with her IG showing both an adorable mom-and-son beach snap, plus a carefree, windswept, and balcony-set video. The daughter to rapper Rev Run doesn’t seem to need fancy-pants photoshoots to nail an update.
Angela’s video, seen below, came as both a reminder of her good looks and of how well she can milk social media – the VH1 face had shouted out the DHair Boutique brand she has a partnership with, but one look at the comments section sees a fanbase who couldn’t even smell the promo. In short, nailing it as usual. Angela was in selfie mode, smiling, and near glass doors of a balcony, with her hair blowing in the wind. The star’s neon string bikini was stylishly covered by a sheer blue top with lemon and grapefruit prints – “FRESH” was written across the front.
A caption from Angela read: “This hair has been perfect for me . Doing my own hair everyday . Just wet and go ? @dhairboutique ? #seabeachwavy.” Angela – followed by 6.6 million on Instagram – clocked herself over 15,000 views in just 45 minutes. It also didn’t take long for the Fashion Nova partner to be told she’s “perfect.” One reply read: “Thank you for sharing ❤️,” although another seemed to see a user pick up on the no-speech vibe – “I think the 1st thing that people fall in Love with about you is your voice ?,” they wrote.

Angela may have been told by rapper Bow Wow that her backside set off his car alarm, but the star has been making headlines this year for more candid reasons. Stripping down to a mismatched bikini back in April saw the brunette get honest about her insecurities – over 230,000 likes have been left to Angela writing: “She’s not perfect , her weight fluctuates, she has her days when she’s not sure … she doesn’t have a 6 pack.” As to #BuiltNotBought, there’s a meaning behind it.
Angela, who comes with way more than “Growing Up Hip-Hop” as her career, has been employing her #BuiltNotBought in posts centering around her 2019-founded Purpose App – the app connects woman via empowerment and “through all dimensions of womanhood.” The app now sees Simmons’ multi-faceted career include this, her Simmons Beauty brand and DHair Boutique partnership, plus her influencing for brands including Fshion Nova and weight-loss company Flat Tummy Co.
