When Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar put their children on television for the first time in 2004, they likely didn’t realize that they would become a fixture on TLC.
One Duggar daughter may no longer be a fixture of TLC if news about the coming season of “Counting On” is correct. Sources say that Joy-Anna and Austin Forsyth may no longer appear on the reality show after the new season airs on June 30. The couple would not be the first to step away from the show. Joy’s sister Jill stepped away several seasons ago.
“Counting On” tends to focus on Duggar family courtships, weddings, and pregnancies. This year, the Duggar family is boasting very few pregnancies. Some might take this to mean that Joy and Austin would be prominently featured because Joy is one of the only pregnant daughters at this time.
If Joy does not appear in the next season, it would mean that the show will focus largely on Jinger’s current pregnancy. It will also delve into the pregnancies of Anna, Kendra, Lauren, and Abbie Duggar, all of whom gave birth months ago.
So, what could Joy and Austin do if they don’t return to “Counting On”? The two are seemingly setting up a social media presence, including a family YouTube channel. They also seemingly still make money flipping houses.
Some speculate that Joy and Austin decided to leave the show after Joy’s very difficult miscarriage last year. At least part of her pregnancy was filmed for the show. Now, Joy is pregnant again. She may have decided not to publicize this pregnancy.
It’s not just a bigger social media presence or the miscarriage that lead many viewers to wonder if Joy might be leaving the show. Reports that Joy-Anna and Austin have not filmed for the newest season hit The Sun last week. Rumors suggest they might make guest appearances or show up in the background, but they may not be filming their own stories for the show. They also do not appear in marketing materials for the show, including promotional photos. Joy appears briefly in the trailer.
Some believe that Joy and Austin might be taking a stance against the larger Duggar family, much like Jill and Derick Dillard. Joy and Jill were always close to each other, with Jill being Joy’s “buddy” when they used the buddy system in earlier seasons of “19 Kids and Counting.”
The upcoming season of “Counting On” will seemingly focus on pregnancies for which there are already birth specials posted online. It also shows Jinger announcing a pregnancy to her family via video chat.
