Blac Chyna took under two hours to have Instagram canceling her today. The 32-year-old model and reality star updated her account this weekend with promo for her new candle collab – the “Rich B-tch” range retailing for upwards of $67 a pop did not go down well amid Chyna’s 16.4 million followers. Chyna, currently fronting media outlets over her lawsuit with the Kardashian family, posted twice on Saturday to show off her “Rich B-tchxBlacChyna” merch. Both posts generated negativity as users seemed unconvinced that the “Rich B-tch Energy” the candle exudes is really worth the $67 price tag.
Chyna’s opening post showed a poster for the collab, with the former “Rob & Chyna” star seen posing in a skin-tight dress and by an oversized version of the candle. A caption from Chyna opened: “Rich Bitch x @blacchyna just introduced one of the dopest candle collabs to aid with manifesting your deepest desires ✨ “Thou Shall Only Surround Thyself With Rich Bitch Energy”.” The ex to Rob Kardashian added that the product was made from “top quality wax,” concluding: “Caution: use only if you are ready to harness Rich B-tch Energy.” Instagram did not appear in the mood.
Chyna, who is business-savvy and has had immense success with her Lashed cosmetics line, didn’t appear to have lucked out as early responses came in. “That candle $70 ???? I kno u lying,” one user wrote. Meanwhile, the thought was echoed by a fan writing: “Hahahahaha $67 for a stupid candle.” Elsewhere, mentions of COVID-19 were made – possibly also blurring into Black Lives Matter amid the murder of black man George Floyd – “Chyna, people are dying” was a comment quickly gaining likes.
Credit where it’s true, Chyna may be “tryna” make money, but the star is succeeding, with the former stripper’s reported net worth estimated at $4.3 million in 2020. One fan took a swipe, writing: “U can always count on chyna to be trynna make money.” Meanwhile, the comment laughing at the $67 price tag received replies: “damn! ??? Not today,” one fan wrote, with a further reply reading: “Tomorrow either ?.” The negativity wasn’t exclusive, though, with a fair amount of users appearing keen to grab a candle.
Chyna did receive some positive feedback. The Fashion Nova partner had one fan asking how they could order, with another saying: “I need ??.” The posts today followed simple ones that showed Chyna’s ability to earn cash on the ‘Gram just by showing her face. The star seated on her home staircase and in a bathrobe shouted out the Fashion Nova brand she fronts, also name-dropping her Lashed brand. Chyna also brings in income via her OnlyFans page, where subscriptions start at $50 a month.
