The “Dancing with the Stars” alum wore a face mask while walking into an office building on Friday morning. Hough looked casual as she stood outside wearing black jeans and a nude sweater.
On May 29th, after three years of marriage, Hough and Laich confirmed their separation in a joint statement to People.
“We have lovingly and carefully taken the time we have needed to arrive at our decision to separate,” the statement began.
“We share an abundance of love and respect for one another and will continue to lead with our hearts from that place. We kindly request your compassion and respect for our privacy moving forward.”
Since the news broke, there’s been a lot of speculation around why the couple ended their marriage.
“She [Julianne] is a deeply different person than she was when they got married, and she is proud of those differences and changes she’s made and she doesn’t want to go back,” a source told People. “He is the man he is, and he shouldn’t change a thing.”
“Brooks was determined to make it work, but he was constantly questioning what changes he needed to make for Julianne to be happy. He was fighting with this for months and it was very hard for him to let go of his marriage,” another source revealed.
Prior to their separation, there were rumors their marriage was on the rocks after Hough was seen without her wedding band while co-hosting the New Year’s Eve show on NBC.
In February 2020, the dancer was spotted several more times without her ring. Prompting more rumors.
During the quarantine, Hough and Laich decided to self-isolate separately. She stayed in Los Angeles while the former athlete retreated to Idaho.
“We’re kind of doing our separate things right now. But it’s really been a magical time,” Hough said during the pandemic.
Last year, Hough came out to Laich as “not straight.” During that time, she admitted feeling safe enough with her husband to share more about herself.
And while the two seemed happy a few months ago, according to a source, the couple didn’t rush their decision to split.
“This wasn’t a rash decision. They tried living apart and spending time apart, and also spending more time together to see what would be best,” a source told People.
The source added, “But their romantic relationship is over now. It’s really sad because there is a lot of love and respect between Brooks and Julianne, but they are both determined to remain friends.”
And while the exes are no longer married, it looks like they’re on good terms. On May 27th, Laich posted a “thirst trap” photo on Instagram to which Hough commented:
“This is awesome haha ?? Also the fact that you just figured out what a thirst trap is… ?.”
