Jake Paul Charged With Criminal Trespass And Unlawful Assembly After Being In Arizona Mall That Was Looted

A lot of looting incidents took place in the United States last week in the midst of the peaceful protests that occurred that were in support of getting justice for George Floyd. All four officers involved have since been arrested as of yesterday.

One looting incident that was notably covered was in Scottsdale, Arizona. Famous YouTuber, Jake Paul, was in one of these malls that was in the process of being looted and while police were trying to get everyone out, he was still inside.

This mall is Fashion Square Mall and Paul is being charged with criminal trespass and unlawful assembly. The Scottsdale Police Department took to this Facebook account this afternoon to reveal that they received tips about Paul.

"The Scottsdale Police Department has received hundreds of tips and videos from the community in response to Saturday nights events at Fashion Square Mall. During our ongoing investigation it was confirmed that social media influencer Jake Paul was in attendance and remained inside of the mall after an unlawful assembly was declared and has been charged with Criminal Trespass and Unlawful Assembly."

Jake Paul has not been arrested for vandalism as of now.

The initial video was captured by Paul's photographer and a Twitter user saw Paul outside of the mall. This was when looters were just starting to break in. Additional footage captured Paul inside the mall after it finally closed. At the moment, it's unknown if Paul stole anything and no theft or vandalism are on the table as of now. Paul went on to address this looting incident on Twitter on May 31 and denied that he or anyone he was with stole any items.

Paul explained how he and his friends spent the day peacefully protesting "one of the most horrific injustices our country has ever seen." He also claimed that they had been tear gassed by police as they were recording everything that had unfolded in the area. They filmed everything to share their experiences and to bring more attention to the anger felt in the neighborhood that they traveled through. Paul emphasized that he doesn't condone violence, looting, or breaking the law though.

"I do not condone violence, looting, or breaking the law; however I understand the anger and frustration that led to the destruction we witnessed," Paul explained. "While it's not the answer, it's important that people see it and collectively figure out how to move forward in a healthy way."

Paul will end up being arraigned on July 8. Paul has also been known as a boxer as he's fought fellow YouTuber, KSI, twice and also won his first professional fight on January 30 against another YouTuber, AnEsonGib People also still haven't forgotten about Paul constantly using the n-word while rapping in January of 2018.
