Today will mark nine days of protests in support of George Floyd, the 46-year-old unarmed black man who was killed by former Minneapolis PD Officer, Derek Chauvin, last week by keeping his knee on Floyd's neck. Chauvin has since been hit with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter charges. Many are rightfully calling for first-degree though due to the intent that Chauvin had to harm Floyd. The other officers on the scene could be facing arrests and charges soon as well.

Chuavin is currently in a maximum security prison as he was also reported to be on suicide watch last week. Floyd's funeral will also take place in various cities next week, the first one being in his hometown of Houston. Presidential candidate, Joe Biden, will also be attending.

Floyd's six-year-old daughter Gianna and her mother, Roxie Washington are now discussing George as they sat down for an interview with Good Morning America. As evident, both were missing his presence a lot as they reflected on how great of a person he was.

"She didn't have to play with nobody else because Daddy was gonna play with her all day long," Washington said. "That was his baby. He loved his little girl." "I hear them. I hear them saying my Daddy's name," Washington said regarding what Gianna told her. "She don't know what happened."

During the GMA interview, Gianna also added that she wants to be a doctor. She simply wants to help take care of people. Washington continued to show emotions due to knowing that George won't be able to see Gianna again.

Washington also added that she wishes she could've been there to help Floyd in that moment. Chauvin had his knee on Floyd's neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds. He kept ignoring Floyd when he said "I can't breathe."

"For a moment because I was like I can't believe... I couldn't believe that somebody was doing him like that. I wish I coulda been there to help him."

When explaining to Gianna what happened to her father, Washington said that he couldn't breathe. A clip also surfaced of Gianna yelling "Daddy changed the world!" while on the shoulders of Stephen Jackson, former NBA player and close friend of Floyd.

Minnesota Governor, Tim Walz, also announced yesterday that the state's Department of Human Rights is filing a civil rights charge against the Minneapolis Police Department. They are investigating the department's policies, procedures, and practices over the past 10 years to determine if they engaged in systemic discriminatory practices. This is very much needed as police brutality was also used against Philando Castile outside of St. Paul back in 2016 and that took his life. Officer Jeronimo Yanez was sadly cleared of any manslaughter charge.
