Chelsea Houska Faces 'Privilege' Backlash, Unfollowed As Fans Slam George Floyd Silence, Now Broken

Chelsea Houska faced an unprecedented level of backlash this weekend, with the "Teen Mom 2" star's silence over 46-year-old black man George Floyd's death – since broken – dominating her Instagram, also having some of her 5.7 million fans unfollow her. Chelsea, 28, posted a cute blazer and shorts photo that would, at any other time, have gone down a hit. With George Floyd's murder sweeping America and much of the globe, though, it looks like the Lauribelles fashion partner was being targeted – some might say unfairly so – for posting about her outfits rather than #BlackLivesMatter.

Photo Lands On IG On Saturday

On Saturday, Chelsea updated her Instagram with a stunning photo showing her rocking frayed denim shorts, a dark graphic tee, plus a snazzy gold blazer, captioning the shot: "Aaaaaand I am now a believer that everyone needs a gold blazer because I’m OBSESSED. Try on haul in my stories in 15! 🖤 snag this beaut and lots of other goodies! @lauriebelles 📸 @bayaraephotography."

Over 109,000 likes, plus co-star Kailyn Lowry saying: "Love love love your outfits. Always!" both sent the thumbs-up, but the comments section has gotten messy.

Targeted For Silence: 'Your Privilege Is Showing'

Note, remarks seen below come prior to the MTV face sharing a black screen with white writing to say: "My heart is absolutely broken for George Floyd and his family. We need to do better."

Over 490 likes have been left to a user writing: "USE YOUR PLATFORM FOR GOOD. The fact that you are staying silent says A LOT." Meanwhile, Chelsea being told: "Your privilege is showing" clocked over 360 likes. Chelsea was also told that her silence was "deafening" as a fan reminded her that she's spoken out to support LGBTQ issues in the past.

"So you literally aren't going to say anything?" was yet another remark.

'Disappointed And Unfollowed', But She Doesn't Stay Silent

Per The Sun's documentation of Chelsea in some way being expected to speak out – and seemingly failing to do so in timely manner – comments also saw users announcing that they'd be unfollowing the star. "Imagine having a platform to voice concerns that are going on in with today's world (the same world your children are growing up in) and using it to post about clothes. #yourprivilegeisshowing #cancelled," one comment read.

"Disappointed and unfollowed" was another reply. A third fan stating their "unfollow" intentions added that Chelsea "literally never speak[s] out about anything you believe in" – the star has for LGBTQ rights. Clearly, her Sunday stories dedicated to Floyd also disproved the accusation.

Chelsea Makes Statement, But Farrah Abraham's Racist Comments Haunt Her

Chelsea has not responded to the backlash, however her short message regarding Floyd was followed up by a longer one seen above. The overall response to her blazer photo came as both slamming and backup – some fans felt that a celebrity has no required duty to mark anything. Chelsea has, of course, since made her views clear.

Less easy-going has been former "Teen Mom OG" star Farrah Abraham's post. As The Blast reported, the 29-year-old's 2016 comment to model Blac Chyna – she called Chyna a "monkey" – plus her "Marriage Boot Camp" remarks had followers dubbing her a hypocrite as her Floyd tribute went live.
