Meghan Markle has openly declared her love for the holidays, and it is no surprise to fans that the Duchess of Sussex and her husband, Prince Harry, celebrated their second Thanksgiving in their new home in a grand style.
Previously, the former actress made her love for cooking public knowledge on her lifestyle blog called “The Tig.” An example was a Turkey Day favorite which fans now think was a hint to her joining the British royal family.
In a recent appearance on The Ellen Show, Markle revealed the plans she and her husband made for Thanksgiving this year. She shared her love for cooking on the show and her anticipation of settling in with her husband and children at their California home.
Markel started “The Tig” long before her royal family life. About a year before meeting Prince Harry, she posted her healthy and favorite Thanksgiving recipe on the blog and Instagram. In her words, the recipe would make one feel like “the Queen.”
Fans Can Feel Like A ‘Queen’ With Markle’s Recipe
In 2014, Meghan’s Thanksgiving post surprised fans by including a sophisticated recipe on the menu instead of a regular chicken one. It was one for an oven-roasted chicken breast, along with mushroom leek gravy. She expressed her love for the recipe and boasted about it to her fans.
“I love a brined, stuffed and roasted turkey as much as anyone, but if you’re cooking for two, maybe a smaller bird is more up your alley,” she said, “and coupled with a beautiful side and a delicious dessert, you will be The King or Queen of happy bellies and full hearts,” she assured.
Praising the “beautiful roast chicken,” Meghan mentioned it was “some gobble gobble good cooking.” Also, she explained to her fans that her recipes were “Clean Eats,” meaning that they wouldn’t result in a carb coma. The recipe also included chocolate-dipped almond butter bites and a special salad.
Markle closed down her blog a while ago, but fans interested in the kitchen enthusiast’s recipes can still access and view them on Tig Archives, an account on Tumblr that managed to keep some posts before the blog’s closing. Her 2014 Thanksgiving recipes are also included in the posts.
Markle And Harry Celebrated Thanksgiving In California
Earlier this year, the couple jointly decided to step down officially as senior royal family members. They announced it in January and officially made their move in March. This was a decision that shocked Britain and the world.
Following the “Megxit,” the two purchased a luxury home in Montecito, California, and moved there with their son Archie. Markle mentioned in the Ellen interview that Thanksgiving this year would be her and Harry’s second one at their California home and that she was confident it would turn out nice.
Fans could only hope it turned out better than the family’s Halloween celebration, as she also revealed on the show that two-year-old Archie and Lilibet, their five-month-old daughter, gave them a hard time. “The kids were just not that into it,” she said about Halloween.
Markle Is A Huge Thanksgiving Fan
Before her marriage, Markle made it pretty evident how much she loved celebrating Thanksgiving on her lifestyle blog. While “The Tig” still functioned, she created content about fashion, beauty, travel, and other areas.
She also shared photos of her cooking skills and recipes on how to prepare her best dishes. Even while she was dating Harry in 2016, Markle once posted a picture of what fans thought was a perfectly cooked turkey.
In the caption for the photo, she wrote, “Oh, that time I roasted a pretty perfect Thanksgiving turkey!” She continued, “The question is, can I do it again? The pressure is on!”
The couple may share a mutual love for Thanksgiving birds as Harry thought that the perfect time to get on one knee and propose was over chicken dinner, as Markle once revealed.
The Couple Got Engaged Over A Chicken Dinner
A second reason why the 40-year-old duchess has a likeness for roasted chicken could be because of Harry and Markle’s engagement which they revealed was over a roasted chicken dinner.
In an interview the couple had together back in 2017, they announced their engagement to the public. During this interview, Markle revealed that Harry’s proposal was during their attempt to roast a chicken together on a “cozy night in.”
She loved the idea nonetheless. She said, “We were trying to roast a chicken and it just – just an amazing surprise, it was so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got on one knee.”
Fans were excited for the couple’s California Thanksgiving and hoped it turned out as great as Markle and Harry planned it to be.
