The popular scientist Bill Nye the Science Guy turns 66 today!

Nye was born William Sanford Nye in Washington D.C. on November 27, 1955. Officially a mechanical engineer, Nye became known for teaching science to children through his humorous TV program "Bill Nye the Science Guy" that ran from 1993-1999. He is also a strong advocate for scientific literacy.

The Cornell University graduate also hosted a three-season talk show called "Bill Nye Saves the World" which reviewed different topics from a scientific lens and refuted commonly held myths that are not based on scientific fact.

Many fans credited Nye for inspiring them to jump into S.T.E.M. careers, and fans couldn't help but take a moment to wish Nye a happy birthday and celebrate all the times he appeared in pop culture.

Bill Nye Appeared In Scooby-Doo

Bill Nye actually met Mystery Inc. and Scooby-Doo... in animated form, of course. Bill Nye appeared in the 2020 special "Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo!" Scooby and the gang of Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy teamed up with Bill Nye and Elvira after they discovered that toxic ooze was creating an army of monstrous pumpkins.

This is actually not the first time that Nye and the Scooby gang have crossed paths. In the twenty-sixth and final episode of Season 1 of "Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?" Bill Nye teams up with the gang to rescue Neil deGrasse Tyson, who is trapped on an international space station with a creature known as the Tardigrade Monster.

Bill Nye Appeared On Season 1 Of 'The Masked Dancer'

Nye also appeared on the first season of "The Masked Singer" spin-off series, titled "The Masked Dancer."

Nye was eliminated during the show's second week after he performed a swing number to Postmodern Jukebox's take on the classic Lady Gaga hit “Bad Romance.”

Judge Ken Jeong, who is also a judge on “The Masked Singer,” immediately recognized Nye; however, other judges were stumped by his identity. Panelist Brian Austin Green doubled down on his initial guess of Bill Maher and judge Paula Abdul switched her first guess from Anderson Cooper to Tim Gunn. Judge Ashley Tisdale thought that the climate change clues pointed to “An Inconvenient Truth” writer Al Gore.

Nye is a renowned dancer who has also appeared on season 17 of "Dancing With The Stars." After his performance, Nye revealed that he wanted to perform on the show because “I love to dance! It may not have been obvious, but I do love to dance.”

After he was eliminated, Jeong enthused Nye’s work of fostering a love for science in children, saying, “What you have done to educate and entertain over the years is something that I aspire to do in my own career so thank you, honestly, for being a role model and a hero, for real.”

“Thanks, you guys!” Nye replied before he turned to address the crowd. “Get out there and change the world, people!”
