Sailor Brinkley Cook just posted a lengthy message of self-love and positive body image after posting some sexy bikini photos on her Instagram account. The 21-year-old daughter of famed model Christie Lee Hudson revealed that she has dealt with “body dysmorphia and left over eating disorder tendencies…”, and decided to have a complete change of heart about her appearance over the Memorial Day weekend.
Being a model like her mother, and a successful one at that, Sailor quickly rose to popularity with major brands like Sports Illustrated as a swimwear model. But that’s not all she’s been up to.
Along with being a drop-dead gorgeous model, Sailor gained incredible publicity while she participated in the 2019 season of “Dancing With The Stars”. Her dance partner was Val Chmerkovskiy and together they performed brilliantly every time they came on stage.
Alas, they were eliminated from the competition in week 6. They appeared on several interviews talking about their experience and even touched on how difficult it was for them to get voted off.
Some of the comments she made about her experience actually confirm some of her latest revelations about how overly self-conscious she has been.
An interview with Access recapped on the announcement that they weren’t going to continue, showing a clip of Sailor crying at the news. When asked what she thought of the clip by the host, Cook said that she could cry again just from watching it.
Her mother was a massive supporter of her time on the show and was even the one to tell Sailor how she had become a “rookie” model for Sports Illustrated. (Something Sailor had strived to achieve)
Some of the recent statements Sailor made about herself are both inspirational and a bit difficult to read. Her fans supported her big time in the comment section of the post, but the sad emotion behind what she first says in the caption was fully felt by the reader.
“I’m so f**king sick and tired of the Photoshop. I’ve been so down on myself recently.
Crying about my cellulite, letting the fat on my body ruin my day, getting mad that I’m not as skinny as I once was.”
But she finished her lengthy caption by telling her fans that she is ready to move beyond what the haters say. What the trolls provoke, and more importantly, Sailor says she is happy with how her body looks.
This has actually been a bit of a trend for models and celebrities recently. Gigi Hadid shared her thoughts about how she wished more people would be accepting of others and less critical. And actress Hailey Bieber shared how comparisons of how she looked as a teenager aren’t fair.
Sailor’s message of self-love is very applicable today!
