As The Blast previously reported, earlier this month, Kathryn got into a social media fight with a black radio host, Mika Gadsen. The two were fighting over a scheduled “Trump Boat Parade.”
During the conversation, Kathryn said she wasn’t racist for supporting President Trump. At one point, she decided to send Mika a monkey emoji during the chat.
Mika shared the messages telling her followers, “This is what happens when a Black woman in #Charleston speaks up against white supremacy.”
Y’all this Kathryn Dennis she is an airhead and racist.
You have NO EXCUSE you live in Charleston, SC where the 9 BLACK church goers were killed because they were BLACK! You’re an idiot and disgusting. I feel bad for your kids but then again you’re probably teaching them that!! https://t.co/5pcDRWe657

Immediately, Kathryn started catching heat and fans have been calling for her to be fired. She issued a half-hearted apology right after the messages were leaked. She said, “I want to acknowledge that using a monkey emoji in my text was offensive, and from the bottom of my heart I sincerely apologize to anyone and everyone I hurt. Although the context was not my intention, there are no “if ands or buts” that excuse me. I did not give it thought, and it was and is wrong. I know I am not that person. I know and will do better.”
After her original message, Kathryn continued to feel the consequences of her actions and lost a lucrative job. Many trashed Kathryn saying it was hard to believe she didn’t know sending a monkey emoji would be seen as racist.

On May 17, Kathryn decided to speak out again telling her followers she always uses the monkey emoji. She said, “I use that emoji all the time bc it looks silly and awkward and that’s my baseline. The account was anonymous I didn’t even know who I was messaging??? And now I’ve been labeled all this crazy stuff and it’s just not true. And it’s not fair. And I see now that I’m back on IG that some**** people are thrilled to use this situation to come up on their own. Use for their own benefit.”
Kathryn ended, “But I’m not gonna let that happen. Never have never will. I’m making a full statement tomorrow but I had to respond bc I cannot stand my character being annihilated. Please just be patient and know this shit is just not true.”
Over a week has passed and not a single word from Kathryn.
@Andy I’m disappointed. I have always rooted for you. I predicted you would pull the “Oops, I didn’t realize I hurled a racist insult at you” excuse. I guess I was right. I’ll find another show to watch. Perhaps others will too.
