Rapper Fetty Wap is revealing the true story behind losing his left eye and the doctor who saved him from going fully blind when he was just a baby.

The 'Trap Queen' rapper sat down with Fat Joe on Instagram and discussed losing his eye, something that has been discussed over the years since the musician became super famous. Fetty explained the situation started when he was a newborn baby and was diagnosed with "congenital glaucoma" at six months old.

"I was born June 7, 1991, at 9:36 am in the morning, six months later I was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma, you feel me, now I was supposed to lose both of my eyes, but the doctor that helped me -- shout out to him, I don't really know his name, but he is like 80 years old right now -- in Philly," he began.

Fetty continued, "My mother drove to Philly, that's the only place that could do it for me, he saved my vision. In my right eye, not only did he saved my vision, he improved it. So, people don't even know I have like twenty-twenty-two vision in this eye.

As you know, Fetty's eye condition has been a question for his fans over the years, with the rapper choosing not to wear a prospects eye on the left side. Obviously, as an artist, it gives him a distinct look. Numerous rumors circulated online over the years, including losing his eye in a shooting, and even a vaping gone wrong incident.

Interestingly, the rapper explained in a previous interview that glaucoma started after having some sort of accident. "When I was little, I had gotten into a little accident and it gave me congenital glaucoma in both of my eyes," he told Shade 45. Adding, "The doctor saved one, I was blessed to still have my vision. That's it. That's the story."

At first, the rapper chose to wear a prosthetic eye but decided to get rid of it as a teenager after growing comfortable with the way he looked. Unfortunately, it was something that he was bullied for as a youngster and often led to fights at school. "A lot of people are judgmental, but it's all on how you show yourself to the people. That's probably one of the main things people won't know about me until they see me," he told the outlet.

Now, the rapper embraces his uniqueness, saying, "I'm probably one of the first rappers/singers to come on the scene with one eye and be comfortable with it."

Fetty Wap made huge headlines this week after being indicted as a part of a drugs trafficking organization. Federal prosecutors claim the six men charged in the case transported and distributed drugs that include heroin and fentanyl on Long Island, and New York. Fetty was "a kilogram-level redistributor for the trafficking organization," the feds alleged. Adding, "The fact that we arrested a chart-topping rap artist and a corrections officer as part of the conspiracy illustrates just how vile the drug trade has become."
