Lady Gaga's new video for "Rain On Me" is lighting up the internet. The eccentric songstress was rumored to be working with fellow pop star Ariana Grande in late March. Gaga later confirmed their collaboration in April while announcing the tracklist for her upcoming album "Chromatica."

Her last album, 2016's "Joanne," was a big departure from her regular synth-pop sound. Gaga then went to rack up both Oscar and Golden Globe Awards for her starring role in 2018's "A Star Is Born," plus several GRAMMY Awards for contributing to its grungy soundtrack.

Now, those watching "Rain On Me" are seeing a striking resemblance between Gaga and a fellow A-List actress.

Vulture praised "Rain On Me" for having a versatile meaning. In their words, the song has this "nebulous quality memorable pop hits have where the lyric seems distinctly about one thing but also not about anything in particular."

What really has people talking is its music video, which Grande and Gaga shot ahead of the coronavirus pandemic. The superhero-style clip is packed with stunning visual effects, and possibly, some hidden meaning.

One of these theories suggests Gaga made direct reference to Scarlett Johansson.

Gaga Named 'Legendary' For The 'Avengers' Refrence

One scene of "Rain On Me" shows Gaga lying on the wet pavement rather dramatically. A screenshot of this moment was side-by-sided with another - the very controversial death of Johansson's Black Widow during "Avengers: Endgame."

"Gaga I loved the Avengers reference, you are legendary! thanks for Rain On Me #RainOnMe @ladygaga @ArianaGrande, and follow me, I love you a lot 🤍⛈," someone wrote on Friday.

Another came to the same conclusion separately:

"Same energy omg 😭😂," they wrote later in the day.

They Share New York Roots

Neither Gaga or Johannson have made any mention of the matter yet, but the two ladies have quite a few things in common.

Both Gaga and Johansson are native New Yorkers. Gaga, born Stefani Germanotta, is slightly younger than Johansson - she's 34, and Johansson is 35.

They also share ties to New York University's Tisch School of the Performing Arts. While Johansson applied to the famed school, she ultimately opted not to attend, choosing to pursue her professional career instead. Gaga eventually did the same thing when she dropped out of Tisch mid-program.

ScarJo Does Music Too

Just as Gaga forrays into film every now and then, Johansson has a music career too. The "Marriage Story" star has released two full-length albums and several one-off singles over the last 12 years. Her latest EP "Apart," a collaboration with Pete York, came out in 2018.

Tweets regularly trickle in comparing their similar appearances and voices, some even saying they're sisters. They crossed paths years ago during an SNL appearance, but the fan-favorite moment looks to be Johansson introducing "the one and only Lady Gaga" at the 2015 Oscar Awards.

Even as recently as yesterday, someone wrote the two "are the same person," and "you cannot convince me otherwise."
