Cosmetics company Lush has dropped off social media.

In an email on Thursday, they told their fans they were hopping off Facebook.

They are also cutting ties with Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok.

They said “the serious effects of social media on mental health are being ignored by these platforms.”

They compared using social media to a “dark and dangerous alleyway.”

Although they hope that the platforms will introduce “best practice guidelines,” they “can’t wait.”

They are trying to “shield customers from the harm and manipulation they experience” on social media.

They concluded, “We’ve always got a lot to say, but when we climb onto a soapbox, we like it to be safe.”

Lush has drawn support from fans over the years for their strong social justice stances.
