Dave East is one of the hottest rappers out of New York right now as he's signed to Nas' Mass Appeal Records and Def Jam. He ran into some legal issues early this morning though as he was cited for disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana, according to NBC New York. Video was originally posted to his Instagram feed at the time of the incident as well as his caption read "REST IN PARADISE SHOOTER SIT DONT STOP FCC NYPD TILL I SEE U AGAIN 💙"

The video posted to the Harlem native's IG feed showed him in a police car as one of his friends labeled the situation as harassment. The SUV was originally pulled over as he was in the backseat. This incident occurred in the Queensbridge Houses area of Queens after the vehicle failed to signal a turn. The driver of the vehicle wasn't cited as he cooperated but police say that East and another passenger were "combative" when requested to see their IDs. After a search of the SUV, police say that more than half a dozen bags of weed were found.

East and the other passenger ended up being taken to the 114th police station to be issued two summons for the criminal possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct charges.

East released his highly anticipated debut studio album, 'Survival,' back in November. It was led by the "Alone" single featuring Jacquees and had other hot records such as "Godfather 4" feat Nas, "Need A Sign," feat. Teyana Taylor, and "Everyday" feat Gunna. He also had a Nipsey Hussle tribute with "The Marathon Continues."

Survival went on to debut at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 8 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. He has since been recording material for the third installment of his 'Karma' mixtape series. In 2018, he released three projects with his 'Karma 2' mixtape, 'Paranoia 2' mixtape, and his collab 'Beloved' mixtape with fellow New York rapper, Styles P. He has been previewing a lot of the songs that may appear on Karma 3 since the start of the new year.

East is one of the most underrated lyricists in the game and he can definitely take things a step further in 2020. He has to stay focused though and not get caught up in situations like this though. East needs to stay safe while in New York as well considering the fact that NYC is the epicenter for the coronavirus outbreak in the United States. At the scene of this incident, neither East, his friends, and not many police officers were wearing masks. This was also before his friend's funeral.
