Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson shared a touching reaction to the news on Wednesday that former WWE star Shad Gaspard died in a drowning accident. His body was found on Venice Beach after being caught in a riptide over the weekend while swimming with his 10-year-old son.

Like Johnson, Gaspard launched into an actor career after wrestling. The Rock shared a photo of the two together at an event to promote the Jumanji film.

"This one hurts. Great guy. My deepest condolences and love to Shad Gaspard's wife, son and family," Johnson wrote in the caption. "Shad drowned in the ocean, but not before instructing lifeguards to save his 10yr old son first. That's the love of a father. This is a tough one to process. Love and light to Shad's family. And your warrior spirit lives on through your son."

Current WWE star Roman Reigns also shared his thoughts on the tragic news.

“'Save my son.' Incredible man and father. My love and prayers go out to the Gaspard family. Rest in love Shad," Reigns wrote on Twitter, referencing the report that Gaspard told the lifeguard to save his son, which he did.

The US Coast Guard, Los Angeles County lifeguards and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department all were involved in the search for Gaspard.

"When last seen by the lifeguard, a wave had crashed over Mr. Shad Gaspard and he was swept out to sea," the Los Angeles Police department said in a statement.

The WWE issued a statement about the tragic news.

WWE is saddened to learn that former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard has passed away at the age of 39.

Gaspard had gone missing while swimming with his son at Venice Beach in California on May 17. In his final act, Gaspard instructed lifeguards to save his son’s life.

Gaspard was best known in WWE as one-half of Cryme Tyme with JTG. The fan-favorite duo memorably joined forces with John Cena during his 2008 rivalry with JBL, and competed for the WWE Tag Team Titles at SummerSlam 2009. Shad and JTG would later square off in heated fashion after a falling out in 2010.

Before entering the squared circle, Gaspard played basketball at Georgia Perimeter College. He was also a former bodyguard for P.Diddy, Britney Spears and Mike Tyson.

Admired by friends and colleagues for his warmth and humor, Gaspard was no stranger to heroic deeds. In 2016, he broke up an armed robbery in Coral Springs, Fla., pinning the suspect to the ground until police arrived.

Gaspard was also a multitalented individual, creating his own graphic novel and acting in several TV shows and films, including “Brothers” and “Think Like a Man Too.”

WWE extends its condolences to Gaspard’s family, friends and fans.
