Even though Master P and his son Romeo Miller were two of the original cast members and producers of the hit series Growing Up Hip Hop, they have announced their departure from the show. It was made clear that they became unhappy with where the series was going due to the producer’s manipulation. Reported by TMZ, a video of Master P confronting a show producer made its way onto the internet. It was clear that one of the main issues was how Romeo was portrayed.

Their Words Were Manipulated

Even though the whole interaction wasn’t caught, a lot was said in the short video. While Romeo was standing off to the side, Master P stood by the producer and expressed how he felt. “These companies only care about ratings and creating negative edits, short cuts of scenes, focusing on drama for headline clicks, and gossip that has been destroying families for years on TV. That’s the real reason my son didn’t want to talk on camera anymore because he knew that his words would be altered like they did mine,” Master P explains.

For anyone who watches Growing Up Hip Hop, they know that the Romeo-Angela storyline is one of the most prominent ones. For the past few seasons it’s been a will they/won't they situation. It seemed to cause a lot of drama between the two. When the producer claimed, “we want to see Angela and Romeo fall in love,” Master P was quick to shut that down. “Why do you want to see them fall in love,” he asks. “There’s no love there.”

Angela Needs to Find Herself

Master P then goes on to say “[Angela] lost her husband, or her boyfriend, or baby daddy. She lost him, he got murdered. She doesn’t need another relationship right now. think about it. But you guys setting her up with somebody and she don’t need that. She needs to find herself, help herself, and be with her family.” This is when Romeo decided to jump into the conversation. He started to express how he felt like they misused his religious faith for entertainment on the show.

“One thing I’m going to just say about the Bible study stuff, I ain’t tryna do that on this show,” Romeo says. “This whole season, they took my faith in God and played with it. On the flip side, all the promo was religion driven.” This situation sounds like nothing new as other reality stars have admitted how producers manipulate and edit however they want. following the news that Romeo and Master P are leaving the show, another original cast member Egypt Criss announced her departure as well.
